Sept 25, 2025: Chytil and Mancini state their case in Canucks win! Höglander hurt

Ep. 1596

In the wake of the Canucks' first preseason win, Matt and Blake take a look at the many intriguing storylines that are starting to emerge. Filip Chytil put his flag in the ground to be the 2nd line centre, Victor Mancini is stealing the show on defence, and Braeden Cootes and Tom Willander are making staff think long and hard about where they should start the year. The guys also look at the ramnifications of Nils Höglander's injury and who that could benefit on the roster. The Daily Hive's Trevor Beggs makes his S & P debut after covering the game in Abbotsford. Trevor gets into the optimism around both Chytil and Mancini, the uncertainty of Höglander, and a new level of comfort shown by both Demko and Foote. Postmedia's Patrick Johnston then joins to take his turn on the rise of Chytil, and the club's hopes and concerns about the player. PJ also talks about the differing paths of Willander, Mancini and Cootes, whom Patrick thinks is on his way to making the opening night roster. We also get some bonus World Rugby coverage from Patrick, as he looks ahead to the Canada/England final. The guys wrap up the show with a look at the Whitecaps salvaging a point vs Portland, the World Cup mascot is unveiled for Canada, and the Seahawks and Lions prepare for huge games.
