Nov 27, 2025: Ducks downed!? Canucks survive a fun one as rumour mill churns

Ep. 1727

The Canucks pull off the upset win in Anaheim but trade winds continue to swirl, so Matt and Blake have a lot to chew on for today's show! The guys look at the improbable victory over the division leaders, and the notable performances from Tolipilo, Garland and others. They also debate whether this was maybe a response to the comments of their management, and whether it changes anything for the team's expectations. The 4th Period's insider David Pagnotta begins his season long affiliation with the show today, and there is lots to discuss in the wake of Jim Rutherford's statements earlier this week. David addresses the availability of players like Sherwood, Garland and O'Connor. Plus, he also gets into whether players with NMC's, like Boeser or Myers, could be asked to waive before the deadline. Then it's RinkWide's Jeff Paterson with a full game recap from the Ducks game. JPat also addresses the newsy week off the ice, what the effect will be on the future of Hughes, and the guys debate the return for a player like Sherwood... Patrick Johnston of Postmedia joins the guys as well, fresh off his discussion with the Canucks President, to break down what he heard and decode Rutherford's feelings on the season and the direction of the team. PJ talks about whether the Canucks really have given up on the season, and whether getting younger is actually the goal. The show finishes up with a look at Whitecaps training as they get set for Saturday's match, the Seahawks sign some familiar names, and the Jays land a big fish in free agency!
