Mar 20, 2026: Best lottery odds almost secure for Canucks as date is set

Ep. 1945

After failing again to win two straight at home, the Canucks turn their attention to the draft lottery and so do Matt and Blake. The NHL has set the date for the lottery and with the best odds almost guaranteed, the boys get into what it would mean for the Canucks to finally pick first overall and debate where that moment would rank in franchise history. Rinkwide's Jeff Paterson joins in on that discussion as well and also recaps the night that was for the Canucks vs the Lightning. Jeff talks about the many that struggled but also a couple of a bright spots in Marco Rossi and Linus Karlsson. Then it's The Sheet's Jeff Marek with a look at the NHL's lottery system and how it works, how the Canucks have had no luck, and what you almost always get when you choose first overall. He also has thoughts on the Olympic puck controversy and the reaction to the Hughes family drama. Whitecaps centreback Ralph Priso pays a visit as well to discuss the match vs San Jose tomorrow. He also shares his Canadian World Cup dreams and what it's like to get called up for the final international window before the tournament. Matt and Blake finish up with some Whitecaps ownership scuttlebutt and the MLS plans for a shortened season in 2027, plus, an ode to a Blue Jays legend.
