Sekeres & Price Show
Feb 23, 2026: No golden goal for Canada, NHL trade szn begins
After a pair of silver medals in hockey at the Olympics, it's a tough Monday on Sekeres and Price. Matt and Blake tackle the coast to coast disappointment of Canada's loss despite a ton of commitment from the fans. The guys look at how the dominance of Canada was not rewarded, plus all the big saves, missed chances, and missed calls that led to the silver medal. The guys also begin to make the pivot to the rest of the NHL season and the possibility of Canucks trades this week. They also deal with the news of surgery for one of the Canucks' most important prospects and the return of some injured players that could liven up the team the rest of the way. TSN's Darren Dreger is back to look ahead to the trade deadline. Dregs has the latest on the Canucks' interest in moving Evander Kane, Teddy Blueger, or anyone else. Darren also talks about a growing list of sellers in the NHL, the race to the bottom for the next Macklin Celebrini, and the reaction inside Hockey Canada after 2 silvers at the Olympics. TSN's Frank Corrado also stops by for a full breakdown on the key plays in the gold medal game. Frank talks about the goaltending performances at both ends, the lack of execution by Canada's biggest offensive stars, and his overall take on how the team played vs the USA. Frankie also gets into roster tweaks that, in hindsight, may have paid dividends for Canada. Then the boys finish up with a final look at the Winter Game in Milan and how Canada fared. The guys take on the idea of funding athletes and where it could come from to get us back to owning the podium. Also, they recap the Whitecaps season opening win at BC Place, the attendance and fan support, plus a multitude of concerning injuries to Canadian World Cup hopefuls??!
