The Honeymoon Murder: Michaela McAreavey

•

In January 2011, 27-year-old Michaela McAreavey travelled to the tropical island of Mauritius with her new husband, John, for what should have been the happiest holiday of their lives.

Married just eleven days earlier, the young couple were looking forward to beginning their new life together. But behind the luxurious surroundings of their five-star resort, an unimaginable horror was about to unfold.

When Michaela failed to return from a brief visit to their hotel room, John went looking for her. What he discovered would shatter his world and spark an international murder investigation.

How could a young bride be brutally murdered in what should have been the safety of her honeymoon suite? And why, more than fifteen years later, has nobody been brought to justice?

This week on Seeing Red, we uncover the shocking murder of Michaela McAreavey, a case of heartbreak, unanswered questions and a family's enduring fight for justice.
