Seaside Pod Review (A Queen Podcast)
Nevermore
Episode 113 wherein Kev discovers that he has a pretty valuable 7 incher on his hands. ON his hands, not in his hands. Get yer minds out of the gutter. That's later..... Anyway, there's all the usual shenanigans from all the usual suspects and we just have to keep winning pucks in the corners and getting shots to the net and if we just execute the game plan and give our goalie a chance, I'm sure we'll sports better than the other team sportses and emerge victorious! It's been a long day, this is all I've got.
If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it “There’s no living in my life any more” or possibly “Queen forever more!”
Today's episode looks at a Freddie's soaringly beautiful interlude on Side Black of Queen II, "Nevermore"
NOTE: Skip forward to 21:48 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.
The song at the end of the episode is the lead track from Randy Woods Band's second album. It's a little number called "Alphabet City". You can check it out here : https://youtu.be/nPPzvp-5hJU
If you want to listen to the piano cover that we played a little of in the episode, you can find that here: https://youtu.be/5Nd4pBsvrwc

10. Chinese Torture
01:02:30||Season 13, Ep. 10Randy is incensed about the hotels in Weyburn and their attitude to towel management. He's upset about the levels of snow on the ground in Weyburn and goddamn it he's blaming Corey Morrissette for all of it! Kev's buzzing off the back of a personal best night at bowling! Our pal Barry is back with another question for us! So we answered that question. Because we're really not rude men! Also fuck Gart Brooks! And Limp Bizkit can definitely go fuck themselves. And not in the nice way like how we say it to you guys!If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Looks like flashing light" or possibly, "Sounds like Brian wanking with his wrong hand!"Today's episode looks at a... well I guess it's technically.... a song....? It's one of the offcuts from The Miracle, so you can imagine how great it is. It's time for some "Chinese Torture"NOTE: Skip forward to 26:15 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin. The poem at the end of the podcast is "Napoleon's Retreat from Wigan" by the inimitable Mike Harding. Go check it, and the rest of the album, out here: https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_ldMa7C5-LJK2_nKl21_ckVscdMznETDW0&si=KoEjvBG7gbrrj6a1Thanks to everyone who tuned in to the last episode and left us some comments on Facebook, Bluesky, and Discord! Lily of the Valley
01:08:35||Season 13, Ep. 9Hear ye! Hear ye! Listen you lot! Listen you lot! We've got another episode for you - as you can tell because you're reading this. There's a bit more jibber jabber up front than usual, but it's all very information, very well thought out, and completely planned, so don't skip any of it, OK? If you skip the first twenty odd minutes you'll miss out on a secret to success that could change your life, the lives of your children, the lives of your children's children, the lives of you children's children's children, and so on and so forth, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. And you wouldn't want that, would you?If Randy were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Neptune of the seas" or possibly, "Is there enough time for peace?"Today's episode looks at another Freddie classic and anchor of the Sheer Heart Attack medley, "LIly of the Valley"NOTE: Skip forward to 23:45 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin. The song at the end is on of Kev's titled, simply, "America". Seems somewhat appropriate at the moment... https://youtu.be/lmPOZ6ZE090Thanks to everyone who tuned in to the last episode and left us some comments on Facebook, Bluesky, and Discord! Seaside Rendezvous
01:04:01||Season 13, Ep. 8Tack piano, thimbles, vocals toto loco, thieving magpies, Yamaha C7s, weather reports, and NO BRIAN MAY! That's what's in store for you this week and also Kev and Randy field questions from Barry John Williams aka Alice's Dad, and our good pal Ruddy "Mike is my Dad" Rutherford, who both want to know what our inside leg measurement is and where to find the best scotch eggs in Wimbourne for some reason... (OK I may be lying about the last part). Get this in your ears, now!If Randy were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Inland disunite" or possibly "One of the best songs of all time"Today's episode looks at one of the Queeniest of all Queen songs and the track that gave our podcast it's name! That's right, it's time for "Seaside Rendezvous"!NOTE: Skip forward to 16:23 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin. The song at the end is Randy's answer to the recent US aggression towards Canada. If you wanna take us on, better get your fucking elbows up! https://youtu.be/0PzEi_2oycUThanks to everyone who tuned in to the last episode and left us some comments on Facebook, Bluesky, and Discord! Script for a Jester's Tear
01:16:20||Season 13, Ep. 7Ballast Woods. Flin Flon. Minequakes. Average athleticism. Consensual Minotaurs. Max Martin. Pink. Fifth members of Queen. It's all going on in this week's episode along with some rather excellent original R&B from Kev! Humpt Bong indeed... what a ridiculous band name! It's a long one folks, but it's the longest song we've covered to date by a good couple of minutes, so y'know! If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "What do you call a Fish with no eyes?", or possibly, "Fsh...."The eleventh episode in this podcast-within-a-podcast covers a song submitted by our pal Tom Boje and is a song that Kev knows very well; the title track from Marillion's 1983 debut record, "Script for a Jester's Tear".If you want to get involved in the Kofi Klub, you can make a donation here: https://ko-fi.com/seasidepodreview and let us know which song you want us to add to the wheel! Rain Must Fall
01:07:38||Season 13, Ep. 6Well that's The Miracle all wrapped up isn't it! I can't say that I'm sorry to see the back of it if I'm being completely honest. We've spun all ten tracks from this album now and not a single one from Flash! The wheel hates nice things. We get into a discussion about real instruments vs synthstruments again and Barry John Williams poses a couple of questions for us to chew on at the end of the episode, including a good one about the use of music in commercials. If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it “A little rain must fall” or possibly “It's pissing down out here. You do know that, don't you?”Today's episode looks at one of those nerve-wracking things in the Queeniverse, a collaboration between John and Freddie. This one's "Rain Must Fall" from "The Miracle".NOTE: Skip forward to 22:28 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin. The song at the end of the episode is the brilliant No Matter What (Always Together) by Absofunkinlutely, with the Cardinal in full flight and his pal Oral Fuentes abley assissting! Seriously, Funk Shui is a delightful album and you should all order a copy from Mr. Woods on CD!Thanks to everyone who tuned in to the last episode and left us some comments on Facebook, Bluesky, and Discord! Sleeping on the Sidewalk
01:15:37||Season 13, Ep. 5Ten songs down on News of the World and only one to go after this week's episode! There's no Freddie. We're Freddieless. Bereft of Fred. There is a death, an absence, verily a Freddie-sized vacuum on this song. So, the question needs to be answered, will that dickhead Randy champion or dust it??? You're just gonna have to wait to find out I guess! We had a great little question, from our pal Dan Flett, about how hard it is to write lyrics without music or music without lyrics, a la Elton John and Bernie Taupin, so we get into that at the end of this week's show.If Randy were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Napping on the pavement" or possibly, "City boy with trumpet sleeps rough!"Today's episode looks at another Brian song and one that he takes lead vocals on, in that dark, bleak Freddie-less void! It's "Sleeping on the Sidewalk" from "News of the World"!NOTE: Skip forward to 20:30 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin. The song at the end of the episode is a little bit of bespoke noodling especially for this episode from the mind and fingers of The Cardinal, Randy Woods. Thanks to everyone who tuned in to the last episode and left us some comments on Facebook, Bluesky, and Discord! The Night Comes Down
01:14:52||Season 13, Ep. 4It's all kicking off! We've been bollocked by one of our listeners for not knowing enough about Marc Martel. We feel scolded and recalcitrant and we won't let it happen again. The next time we cover a Marc Martel song, we'll give a much more comprehensive bio on him! We'll even try to track down his mom to ask some very searching questions about Marc's teenage bedroom habits! Also, there seems to a mutiny brewing in the Scottish highlands as the otherwise mellow and decent Ruddy Rutherford seems to be planning an insurrection of sorts with a crew of ne'er do wells and malcontents! Oh - and we talked about Queen for a bit.If Randy were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "The night comes down every night Bri" or possibly, "The song is brill!"Today's episode looks at a song that predates the Trident sessions, Brian's "The Night Comes Down"NOTE: Skip forward to 19:16 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin. The song at the end of the episode is a little bit of bespoke noodling especially for this episode from the mind and fingers of The Cardinal, Randy Woods. How Many Kings
01:03:14||Season 13, Ep. 3Wait, wait, wait! It's not Christmas! What the heck Chappers! We're delving into the world of Marc Martel and his exceptional voice this week with the opening song from 2009's album of the same name. Is there any festive spirit left in March for the boys? Tune in to find out!If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "How Many Kings", or possibly, "Zero or One. Take your pick!".The tenth episode in this podcast-within-a-podcast covers a song submitted by the wonderful Sarah Chapman and is the work of Canadian vocalist, Marc Martel; How Many Kings.
