Seaside Pod Review (A Queen Podcast)
Let Me Entertain You
Episode One Hundred? Who'd have ever imagined we'd get this far? Who would ever have imagined that Randy would still be willing to sit down and listen to Kev fanboy about Queen every week? Who'd have ever thought that a man with a peanut for a brain and a face painted with deck stain would have a realistic chance of being President of the US. Again. Well, we'll take it! Except the last bit. Fuck that guy!
This week it's a doozy and you know we're gonna be talking Live Killers!
If Randy were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Are you not entertained" or possibly, "I'll use any device"
Today's episode looks at the bombastic, fantastic, orgasmic "Let Me Entertain You", which closes out Side A of 1978's "Jazz".
NOTE: Skip forward to 25:42 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.
The music at the end of the episode is "No Good (For You)" by Kev Brown You can find it here! https://youtu.be/XvFVXET1qRo

8. Held
42:23||Season 11, Ep. 8Yo! We're back with another Kofi ep peepils! It's a strange one. Like, really quite strange. It's by a band we knew nothing about and still know very little about! This week's song was requested by David A Wilson, who let me know in advance that it was a weird song! Did I mention that this one is a little off-kilter?If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Angry kitty, mad kitty, little ball of hate", or possibly, "Like a big old baby".The seventh episode in this podcast-within-a-podcast covers "Held", the first single from 1999's "Knock Knock", by SMOG. You can find it here: https://youtu.be/Mzvs7Lt7C70If you want to get involved in the Kofi Klub, you can make a donation here: https://ko-fi.com/seasidepodreview and let us know which song you want us to add to the wheel! We also have a private channel in our Discord community for donors. Don't forget that all donations in the month of November will be donated to the Mercury Phoenix Trust! The song in the research break and at the end is "Meine Mutter", by the German experimental trio Künstliche Dummheit. The single and it's alternate version are not currently released and was sent to Kev by a friend for inclusion.Follow us onFacebook: @seasidepodreviewDiscord: https://discord.gg/nrzr2mQjBluesky: @seasidepodreview.bsky.socialAlso, check out Kev's other podcastsThe Tom Petty Project: https://tompettyproject.comThe Ultimate Catalogue Clash: https://shows.acast.com/uccAnd if you want to check out Randy's music, you can find it here:https://randywoodsband.com7. I Got You
43:41||Season 11, Ep. 7This is the last episode we recorded while the Cardinal was in Winnipeg a few weeks back and concludes the epic Randy-does-his-laundry-during-the-pod narrative trilogy! This week's song was requested by Chrissy AKA The Waters of Love! Randy was really familiar with the song and Kev was pretty sure he'd never heard it, so how will this one shake out???If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "I don't know why sometimes I get frightened" or possibly, "Spiders. It's definitely spiders".The sixth episode in this podcast-within-a-podcast covers Neil Finn's first solo writing credit, "I Got You". You can find it here: https://youtu.be/wiqBlKnb91AIf you want to get involved in the Kofi Klub, you can make a donation here: https://ko-fi.com/seasidepodreview and let us know which song you want us to add to the wheel! My Baby Does Me
57:47||Season 11, Ep. 6"My baby what? Does me? Are you sure? Good? She does me good you say? Well, that doesn't sound awful. Wait, what, that's the lyrics of the new song???? That doesn't sound great mate. Can we maybe run it by Bri and Rog and see what... OK OK. Yeh, I can probably play some sort of bassline to this. We're gonna just use this drum loop as a bed track until Rog comes.... oh? Really? I mean, he's coming in this afternoon, he could.... OK Fred. Your call!" If Randy were to title this episode, he'd probably call it “My baby does me” or possibly, “Turn it down a bit please!”Today's episode looks at the erm... the... it's... look... well... it's "My Baby Does Me" from "The Miracle" OK. It was gonna come up some time, we'll just get through it and move on.NOTE: Skip forward to 16:43 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin. The music at the end of the episode is "Faded American" by Randy Woods Band and you can find it here: https://youtu.be/jjT1fsuj7yEThanks to everyone who tuned in to the last episode and left us some comments on Facebook, and Discord! Darker Still
36:09||Season 11, Ep. 5This one was recorded while the Cardinal was in Winnipeg a few weeks back and Kev is sick, so we figured we'd drop this one to keep you entertained (for a given value of entertainment obviously) This week's song was requested by Matt Greenham! Neither Kev nor Randy really know what metalcore is and it's safe to say that this one isn't in their typical listening rotation, but will they champion or dust this one?If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Parkway to Heaven?" or possibly, "Until I Die".The fifth episode in this podcast-within-a-podcast covers the title track from Parkway Drive's 2022 release, "Darker Still". Machines (or 'Back to Humans')
58:05||Season 11, Ep. 3Greed has poisoned men’s souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical. Our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery we need humanity. More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost… If Randy were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "The humans are dead" or possibly, "It's heartbeat is timeshare..."Today's episode looks at "Machines (or 'Back to Humans')", the bombastic Taylor/May collaboration from 1984's "The Works".NOTE: Skip forward to 19:09 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin. The music at the end of the episode is "Humble Pie" (not cake) by Absofunkinlutely. You can find it here! https://youtu.be/fCSRnIrUk-AThere is also a clip from the brilliant bubblegum pop track "Take You There" by Teddi Gold and Cyberattack that you can find here: https://youtu.be/-7FvQSBfgh8Also, go check out our merch store, here! https://tinyurl.com/2e23nkk6Thanks to everyone who tuned in to the last episode and left us some comments on Twitter, Facebook, and Discord! I Can't Live With You
51:20||Season 11, Ep. 2"Hey guys, I've been working on tracks for a potential solo album and came up with this idea. Whaddya think?!" "Well, Freddie wrote a cat song, Rog' is on about cars again, and I don't really have anything that I'm super pumped about, so I guess we could try it........" said John. Probably. Well, maybe. Actually, almost certainly not. But it's a strange one to include on a Queen album and Kev and Randy were pretty much on exactly the same page with this one! If Randy were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "I can live without you" or possibly "Why can't we live without you? I need more! Gimme more!"Today's episode looks at another track from Innuendo that was originally intended to be a Brian May solo song, "I Can't Live With You"NOTE: Skip forward to 14:22 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin. The music at the end of the episode is a work in progress by the Cardinal titled "Drumming for Jesus"!If you want to hear The War and Treaty (and you really ought to), check this out: https://youtu.be/k4blAHy2lUkAlso, go check out our merch store, here! https://tinyurl.com/2e23nkk6Thanks to everyone who tuned in to the last episode and left us some comments on Twitter, Facebook, and Discord! Bring Back That Leroy Brown
53:15||Season 11, Ep. 1How much Brown would a Leroy Brown if a Leroy could brown Brown? Fucked if I know and to be honest, I don't think it's overly relevant to this week's episode. There's a whole lot of Jim Croce, because Kev loves him and Kev does the edit, so Kev gets to put Jim Croce in there! Wanna argue? Double bass, tack piano, harmonized train whistles, pitch correction, and a whole hell of a lot of fun. It's all here, so come and get it! If Randy were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Put a shotgun to his head" or possibly "Why can't we get along?"Today's episode looks at a Freddie's sizzling first foray into swing, "Bring Back That Leroy Brown" from 1974's "Sheer Heart Attack".NOTE: Skip forward to 16:48 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin. The music at the end is "Hijack The Show" taken from "Residential Gas Leak", the second release by Randy's former band, Absofunkinlutely. Halfway Hotel
29:44||Season 10, Ep. 10The Cardinal is off making money to support his family again. What a douche! Anyway, luckily we had some Kofi eps recorded so we're giving you a band neither of us had heard and their one-hit-wonder song that charted in the UK and Australia. This week's song was requested by Alan Dudeney! If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Shit stains on the ceiling, the windowpanes are nice..." or possibly, "they're so discreet and I know only too well". The fourth episode in this podcast-within-a-podcast covers the title track from Voyager's (not that one Randy) 1979 release "Halfway Hotel". It's pop-y, it's piano driven, and the boys were unanimous in their verdict on this one!If you want to get involved in the Kofi Klub, you can make a donation here: https://ko-fi.com/seasidepodreview and let us know which song you want us to add to the wheel!
