Headlines: Fastlane:
  • A French Intelligence Agency recently tried to have “sensitive information” on a military installation removed from Wikipedia by coercing a French national editor to do it for them. When he refused, they went to Wikipedia directly, claiming that it was a breach of their national security. Wikipedia refused, stating that the information in the article all comes from public sources on the internet, including a walkthrough of the facility by its commander on YouTube. To date, the page is still up and the news surrounding it has caused a huge jump in page views. So good job keeping that secret, France!
  • For people who don’t know what an actual “burner phone” is, there’s a new app coming down the pipe for Android users that lets you create fake numbers to call from. the app has been very popular on iOS and will be seeing some upgrades and a new pricing scheme with its move to Android. With access to all these fake numbers, now people won’t even know it’s YOU they’re screening when they sent that weird number to voicemail.
  • An artist is suing the NFL for use of a logo he designed without permission, though a judge has deemed it to be considered “Fair Use”. Since this is a copyright case, it’s not surprising that the MPAA has stepped in.  However, they decided to side with the NFL’s definition of “Fair Use”! This should be solid proof that the MPAA is less about protecting copyrighted material and more about just screwing you over.
  • In news that many are considering to be stunning and unbelievable, the Syfy network has announced that they are actually developing science fiction shows. Mind. Blown.

Plus, you have to add so much sugar that stirring it until it dissolves takes forever! My point is that making lemonade takes a lot of time and effort. (I am also now craving a glass of lemonade. What have I done?) Anyway, life has gotten a bit too real for us here at Stolendroids Podcast, so we need to take a minute to catch our breath. But don't worry because we're not going anywhere! We're currently preparing for Salt Lake FanX on September 16th through the 18th at the Salt Palace Convention Center.     After numerous delays, Marvel's Black Widow finally arrived in theaters. And Disney+. Yep. In addition to a theatrical release where the latest chapter in the MCU scored $158 million in its first three days at the global box office, Disney also released the anticipated film through Disney+ Premier Access. But the move appears to have been a wise one since it earned more than $60 million through the popular streaming service during its opening weekend.Based on its earnings, it looks like Black Widow is a hit, but is it any good? We break it down on this week's episode of Stolendroids Podcast. Listen as we discuss what we like (and what we don't) about the movie, then let us know your thoughts. Within seconds you are bombarded with spoilers from the newest episode of Loki. Seriously? It has only been out for like six hours! How is the Internet already full of spoilers?Does this sound familiar? Maybe it wasn't Loki that was spoiled. Perhaps it was a different movie or TV show. But you know the feeling. That feeling of anger and rage and disappointment in your fellow man. How could they do this to you? Shouldn't there be some sort of etiquette when it comes to this sort of thing? We're right there with you, which is why that's the topic of conversation on this week's Stolendroids Podcast.  What bothers you most about when people share spoilers? This is a popular translation of "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?" from the writings of Juvenal and can be literally translated as "Who will guard the guards themselves?" It's a theme that has become a popular trope throughout pop culture, including movies, television, and comic books. It also happens to permeate our review of Pixar's Luca. While we do manage to talk about Luca, there is just so much more to talk about than just one movie. Seriously, we had the new trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings drop right before we recorded, so you know we had to discuss that. We also had follow-up news from a previous episode that we felt should be talked about. Throw in some Disney+ and Netflix chatter, and where to get a cold drink on a hot day, and you've got this week's episode of Stolendroids Podcast.

    Disney has been making classic animated films for decades. You could even say that it's what they're known for. I mean, they did make Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the first full-length animated feature film, way back in 1937, and they've been cranking out the classics ever since. Sure, they've stumbled along the way, but they always seem to recover. With that in mind, why would you think that a global pandemic would prevent Disney from releasing another animated classic? No, it's not a classic yet, but Raya and the Last Dragon is good enough to be one. From the story to the animation, it is a classic in the making. Until they did…On this week's episode of Stolendroids Podcast, we reminisce about the days when it was okay for a kid to watch hours and hours of television. We remember the memory and mourn the loss of the Saturday morning cartoon and all that went with it. The sugar cereal. The amazing commercials.
