Vandaag gaan we het hebben over een belangrijk thema: de kunst van mindfulness.Maar wat is mindfulness eigenlijk? Mindfulness is een Engelse term die we vaak horen. In het Nederlands kunnen we het vertalen als "aandachtigheid" of "oplettendheid." Het betekent dat je met je volle aandacht in het moment leeft, zonder je te laten afleiden door gedachten over het verleden of de toekomst.We leven in een wereld waar alles snel gaat. We hebben altijd haast, denken aan wat we nog moeten doen, of piekeren over wat er gisteren is gebeurd. Dit kan veel stress veroorzaken. Stress is een gevoel van spanning, van zorgen maken. Het is iets wat we allemaal wel eens voelen, vooral als we het druk hebben.Mindfulness kan ons helpen om deze stress te verminderen. "Verminderen" betekent minder maken, of kleiner maken. Door aandachtig te zijn in het moment, kunnen we onze gedachten kalmeren en ons beter voelen. Bijvoorbeeld, als je eet, probeer dan echt te proeven wat je eet, in plaats van met je gedachten ergens anders te zijn.Een eenvoudige manier om mindfulness te oefenen is door op je ademhaling te letten. Ademhaling betekent hoe je in- en uitademt, hoe de lucht naar binnen en naar buiten gaat. Ga eens rustig zitten, sluit je ogen, en voel hoe je adem in en uit je lichaam stroomt. Dit helpt om je gedachten tot rust te brengen en in het moment te zijn.Mindfulness heeft veel voordelen. "Voordelen" zijn positieve dingen, dingen die goed voor je zijn. Het kan je helpen om je beter te concentreren, je emoties beter te begrijpen, en om meer rust en balans in je leven te vinden. "Balans" betekent evenwicht, dat dingen in harmonie zijn.Het mooie aan mindfulness is dat je het overal kunt doen. Of je nu aan het werk bent, thuis, of zelfs onderweg, je kunt altijd even pauzeren en je bewust worden van wat je voelt en denkt.
