Embrace Your Body and Sensuality with Kayla Brenda

Ep. 39

Kayla Brenda is an absolute legend, and queen. Her story and her wisdom should be spread far and wide, and the good news is, this episode is helping to make that happen. For real though, 'cause last I checked, we all have a body, and last I checked, we are biologically programmed to experience sensuality (or honey, we would have gone extinct long ago).

So why do we (particularly as women) struggle so much to feel good wading in these parts of ourselves? Why do we struggle to love them? Oh that's right, because the patriarchy is real, because we listen to the messages we receive from external sources, believe them... and we have collective trauma that pulls us away from from who we really are.

Ugh.

If you're nodding your head with an inner knowing that feels like relief, give this episode a listen. And if you really want to set fire to your relationship to your body and your sensuality, get your cute booty over to The BODYLOVE Course ASAP. It's a 7 day, immersive experience that will change your damn life for the better. You'll hear more about it in this episode, or you can check it out for yourself HERE

Also, if you dug this episode, please do share the goods, and consider leaving a 5 star review wherever you listen. Think of it as an act of service for your day... cause damn being of service sure does feel good.

A bit more on Kayla: Originally from Colorado, Kayla Brenda began dancing professionally at the age of 18. Since, Kayla has traveled the world over performing for national and international super stars. A regular picture in primetime Hollywood spectaculars like The Academy Awards, The Grammy's, The VMAs, the AMA's, and BET Awards, Kayla has performed with an array of artists ranging from Jason Derulo, P!nk, Trey Songz, Pitbull, and Becky G, to Prince Royce, Tom Jones, and Helene Fischer. Kayla has also landed screen time in film and television, including appearances on ABC's The Middle, Disney's Girl Meets World,  KC Undercover, Just Roll With it, and HBO's Big Little Lies.

In addition to her performance career, Kayla is a sought after Heels instructor, and has shared her gifts of teaching worldwide. She is extremely passionate about sharing her love of dance and the art of tapping into one’s unique sensual expression through movement within her classes.

Navigating a professional career in Los Angeles, and working over ten years in the entertainment industry has given Kayla a unique vantage point to how beauty and body standards are created, and has experienced the many effects of the world of "Hollywood" firsthand. To discover her own place in this demanding industry of standards, Kayla embarked on a personal journey to reclaim her own body, image, power and sensuality.

From the revelations of this journey, Kayla created BODYLOVE with the intention of empowering women to reconnect back to the miracle that is their bodies, the unique essence that is their sensuality, and their inherent force within. BODYLOVE has become a community of warrior women that love themselves, and it is Kayla’s dream that it will inspire women worldwide to love themselves wholly, express themselves unapologetically, and show up to their lives knowing they are WORTHY.

  • 17. Do You Love Your Body

    22:47||Season 1, Ep. 17
    We have been conditioned to believe our worth is based on a number on the scale. On what our body can do. How it performs. On what it looks like. Even on how it feels. For many, our insecurity is all encompassing—and it’s fed daily by an economy that proliferates and prospers off of us feeling like shit about ourselves. And in that constant, fear-gripped state of reactivity, we lash out and seek to control the thing society tells us contains our total worth: Our bodies. It’s a pretty nasty tactic, but I gotta say, it’s working. In the United States alone, 20 million women and 10 million men suffer from clinically diagnosed eating disorders. And that 30 million doesn’t include those of us who are simply crippled by body shame, dysmorphia, or fall prey to our reactive, traumatic culture around looks. This is why loving yourself is a radical act. Because the odds are not in your favor here. In today's solo episode, I dive deep into how to cultivate a more loving relationship to your body. I share a bit about my experience, and offer some reframes and tools that I hope can serve. If this episode resonated, share it, post it, leave a 5-star review... this will help get the podcast in more ears. And we want that, we want more souls getting Altared. Let's go! - Alexa

Connect to our beloved Sylvester, and learn more about him, below. @sylvestermcnutt www.sylvestermcnutt.netI believe the best decision I ever made was to commit to a lifetime of healing, presence, and joy.During the 1980s my parents brought me into this world at the end of August. Growing up with four seasons in the Chicago-land area gave me access to year-round activity and engagement. I fell in love quickly with sports, the arts, and expressing myself as a human being. There was pain & addiction in my family system that I had to overcome. When I was younger I wished I had the skills, knowledge, and energy to keep my parents together, to keep my family unit together. This thirst for an understanding of psychology, communication, and spirituality became my life’s dharma. Now, I’m 10+ years into my career as an author, speaker, podcast host, and I also am certified yoga teacher. I became the adult that I needed as a kid. I believe the best decision I ever made was to commit to healing, presence, and joy.Namaste,Sylvester
