  • 2. Capacity, Caregiving & Creative Projects: Emma holds Sarah | HELD Chats 02

    01:20:14
Our second episode of HELD Chats, this time with Sarah bringing the conundrum and Emma holding space and interweaving insights and wisdom. We’re getting in to the guts of how it can feel to blend business, life and mothering in our modern systems and structures. There’s vulnerably about the guilt, capacity challenges, and self-imposed pressures we face trying to balance caregiving and pursuing our passions. From managing unhelpful societal expectations to creating sustainable schedules, we unpack how to honor our own needs while still showing up fully for our kiddos. We’re asking:How do we honor my own capacity and needs, and not put too much pressure on ourselves to do it all?How can we create a sustainable schedule and rhythm that works for us across different areas of life? How do we manage transitions, shared care and distance in co-parenting setups? How can we express difficult emotions while also modeling healthy boundaries, self-care, and coping strategies for our children?Wanna join HELD Retreats for 2024? • 2. Why SMART Goals need to calm down

    35:58
I want to reimagine goal setting. I want to dismantle and rediscover what success looks like, for each of us, individually.  I want to unravel everything we’ve thought about achievement, productivity and worth. I want to untangle the layers of societal pressure, generational patterns and internal expectations. In recent times, we have started asking ‘how do you want to feel’ instead of only asking ‘ what do you want to achieve or attain’, which is a good start.  Thankfully, as a society we’ve started acknowledging that presence and joy and connection are often more important than wealth, status or material objects.  But we’re still putting A LOT of pressure on ourselves. I believe there is more digging to do. More self compassion to find. More nuance to discover.Instead of ‘what do I want to achieve, do or feel’, I invite you to start asking yourself…~ Who & How do you want to be?~ What are your ideal states of being?~ What kind of person do you crave to be? ~ What experiences & adventures are you craving more of?What if we moved from SMART goals to flexible goals? Join me for a reimagined framework for flexible goal setting, full of courage, curiosity and of course compassion.Grab the Google Doc template version by adding your email here.
  • 1. Why the 'High Vibe Only' approach is holding us back

    21:16
I wrote you a reflection that became an essay and then I wanted to read it to you, and then it became an audio episode, and so my new audio newsletter was born!I wasn't sure what to call it, and then I remembered when I published the first edition of The Self Adventure Guide in 2022 I wrote this dedication in the opening pages, it said:You are home here. For curious, open-hearted humans who want to live courageously and creatively. For the folks who want to know themselves deeply and do their own thing boldly. For the souls who want to burn shit down one day and go gently the next. Those words struck a chord with my community and since then I’ve been signing off essays with this line:Here, we go boldly and gently, together.Because I believe both things can be true. And the name, Boldly & Gently, came to be.It is my rebellion, my revolution, my call to action and my love letter to you. I am so glad you’re here. This audio series will be spontaneous, eclectic and a little bit wild, it will live here in podcast land and on Substack, so you can read more about each episode here.Boldly & gently, is a choose your own adventure guide for playing in the messy middle. With creative, small businesses and full lives. This is for the courageous, ambitious, and thoughtful ones who wanna create meaningful work, take care of themselves and their people. Here we question everything. We build big visions and still make time for naps and trips to the park. And if you're new to my work, hi, I'm Sarah Haney. I'm an entrepreneur, a creative business consultant, a coach, and an audio producer. I offer coaching, consulting, and publishing services that support small business owners like you probably to create and build with curiosity, courage, and self-kindness. I am your creative director, your action partner, and your biggest cheerleader.I offer radical permission to do things your way. I'm your self adventure guide for when you want someone to hold your hand and heart and reignite your spark. I'm also a toddler mum, writer, a maker, and a proud ADHD-er living on the beautiful Kaurna country. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the Kaurna people as the Traditional Custodians of this land that I am so privileged to live, create, and play on.This land was never ceded and always was, and always will be Aboriginal land. I honour First Nations peoples as the original storytellers and acknowledge any First Nations people that may be reading or listening today. I am so glad you're here! • 6. Angie Cole // You are Already Enough

    01:04:21
Today's episode is with the incredibly wise Angie Cole.I am beyond thrilled to FINALLY share this wonderful chat with you all.  This was recorded late last year and since then Angie has become an Aunty and I've become a Mum, so we've been busy! There is still so much wisdom here and I'm so grateful to Angie for sharing this time with me and also for her patience awaiting its release.Angie and I are dear friends and have worked together on both sides of the fence, as I'm sure you'll be able to tell.  In part, The Self Adventure wouldn't exist without the support of this incredible human and for that I'm immensely grateful.Angie Cole is a force of nature -- soft and subtle, fierce and unstoppable.  She is a coach and mentor for Responsible Renegades and Rebellious Rule-Followers.  Her clients and students would tell you she’s one part genius, one part priestess, and 100% truth-teller. Blending a strategic and intuitive approach, Angie’s work inhabits the places where life and work intersect.  She can help you crunch the numbers while uncovering how your daddy issues are holding you back. Her emerging body of work centers around reorienting our relationship to Money, Value and Worthiness.Angie was a coach before it was the cool thing to sell online, and was raised by mentors and elders who taught her to stay true to the craft.  Angie has now wandered her way to thriving as a business owner, guided by her own intuition and no one else’s 6-step-plan.   As a fully nomadic spirit, she is at home in the unknown and unpredictable. This makes her the perfect co-pilot for those with wild ambition and the audacity to do things differently. We chat about:How rest and leisure are connected to privilegeHaving a sense of adventure in a global pandemicThe known vs making friends with the unknownThe myth of ‘nailing the uplevel’How are we creating our sense of self, internally or externallyDo you feel like your needs are inconvenient?Creating from fear vs desireSeparating value & worth and abundanceMoney flow in AND outI hope this conversation brings you some joy, resonance or self kindness. Thanks for being here,Sarah xFind Angie:untamingthewild.com@angiecole_meJoin Angie for [Study Hall]Find me:theselfadventure.com@theselfadventure@sarahharneymakes
