Session Four and a Half: The Royal Tenenbaums

Season 1, Ep. 4.5

This week we continue on our journey with The Royal Tenenbaums with our dear friend and Auntie, Jennifer Otter Bickerdike. We discuss the role of popular music in the film as well as a few tangents dipping into identity, the importance of language, and how important it is to have media that we can see ourselves in.

Trigger warnings for discussions of suicide, self-harm, discovery in gender identity, as well as discussion around a big R-slur that rhymes with "lard." If that is a discussion that you think you'd need to fast forward through that section, it starts around the 41min mark. However, we wouldn't have kept it in if it wasn't an incredibly enlightening and rewarding discussion.
