55. Build Better Rowing, Brick by Brick | 25 Minute RowAlong Workout
44:44||Season 5, Ep. 55Some rowing workouts give you the flashy stuff. This 25 minute follow along rowing workout is about building the fitness, technique and consistency underneath it — one brick at a time.👉 Full RowAlong Daily Workout playlist:https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8ookhrQKwvKEfSfOxp73vX02j8LrtUilToday’s session is 21 minutes of low-intensity rowing followed by a 4 minute cool down. And somewhere along the way, I end up in a LEGO shop. The analogy actually works rather well.Think of your rowing as building a house.Your easy aerobic work gives you fitness bricks.Technique practice gives you another set of bricks.Hard intervals, racing, power work and mental resilience all add something different. The exciting sessions are a bit like the fancy rooms and shiny pieces — they’re the bits everybody notices. But none of that works particularly well if the foundation underneath it is only four bricks wide.So today’s row is about collecting some of those boring but important foundation bricks. That means keeping the intensity under control, getting some useful aerobic work done, and spending time on the stroke without constantly chasing pace. And that brings us back to Mr. Right Now.I can give you the framework for the workout, but the best workout today is the one that fits you right now.If this is an easy day, keep it easy.If this is your only workout and you want a little more from it, add some pressure.Use the workout rather than feeling that you have to obey it.Workout21 min low-intensity rowing4 min cool downLow stroke rateAerobic fitness + techniqueEffort adapted to your dayChapters00:00 Start rowing whenever you’re ready00:48 Set up your machine01:28 Seat position & posture02:29 Foot stretcher setup03:18 Handle grip03:48 Start the main row04:35 Meet Mr. Right Now05:00 Reset your posture06:41 Why these Daily Rows work08:26 The workout that suits you today09:35 The LEGO analogy begins10:09 Choosing your training bricks11:06 Building your fitness foundation11:38 The flashy training sessions12:29 Don’t neglect the boring bricks13:57 Why shiny workouts are tempting14:45 Technique check15:15 Handle height and finish position17:23 Hands away, sit up and tilt18:10 Make the stroke flow19:32 Legs, body and arms22:43 Strapless rowing check23:58 Why strapless rowing helps24:55 Cool down26:10 Technique during the cool down27:17 Drag factor and resistance28:21 Pace comes from how you push30:19 Force curve check30:48 Stretching31:16 Drag factor explained33:05 Minimum and maximum drag factor35:04 Quad stretch42:20 Lucky Dip workout feature chat44:04 Mr. Right Now returns44:07 LEGO me makes an appearance⚠️ Health Warning:Please make sure you’re fit enough for exercise before taking part. 54. Learn to Feel a Better Stroke | 25 Minute Follow Along Rowing Workout
46:56||Season 5, Ep. 54This 25 minute follow along rowing workout combines easy aerobic fitness with a simple goal: learn to feel what your rowing stroke is actually doing, so you can make each part work better.👉 Full RowAlong Daily Workout playlist:https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8ookhrQKwvKEfSfOxp73vX02j8LrtUilToday is 21 minutes of low-intensity rowing followed by a 4 minute cool down. But rather than simply watching the numbers, I want you to pay attention to what’s happening inside the stroke. Can you feel your fingers take the load as the handle connects? Are your arms staying straight while the legs start the drive? Can you feel your feet pushing into the machine? Is your posture putting you in a strong position at the catch? And can you connect that leg power through your body and into the handle? This isn’t about obsessing over perfect technique. It’s about becoming more aware of what your body is doing.Because once you can feel when you’re pulling early, losing posture or disconnecting the legs, you’ve got something you can actually work on.And that matters whether you’re trying to row faster, improve your fitness, burn calories or simply get more from the time you spend on the machine.Workout21 min easy rowing4 min cool downLow stroke rateAround 3–4/10 effortTechnique and body-awareness coaching throughoutChapters00:00 Today’s easy RowAlong workout00:36 Set your resistance01:22 Seat position01:47 Posture and sit bones02:33 Foot stretcher setup03:53 Handle grip04:32 Start rowing04:52 Feel the hands connect05:41 Are you pulling early?06:44 Keep the arms straight07:49 Don’t worry about pace09:18 Feel the leg drive12:21 Where your fingers should hold the handle15:05 Connect hands and feet16:31 What really controls your pace18:38 Set up a strong catch position21:47 Are you analysing your stroke?23:24 Get more of your body involved27:43 Back to basics28:01 What early pulling feels like29:11 Sometimes you need to feel the mistake29:21 Cool down⚠️ Health Warning:Please make sure you’re fit enough for exercise before taking part. 53. The Row You Can Keep Coming Back To | 25 Minute Follow Along Workout
45:04||Season 5, Ep. 53This 25 minute follow along rowing workout is an easy, repeatable indoor rowing session for fitness, technique and consistency — the kind of row that can simply become part of your routine.👉 Full RowAlong Daily Workout playlist:https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8ookhrQKwvKEfSfOxp73vX02j8LrtUilToday is 21 minutes of easy rowing followed by a 4 minute cool down. And the main idea is one I keep coming back to:Find something you enjoy enough that it becomes “that thing you do.” That’s really what these Daily RowAlong workouts have become for me. I sit down, press start, get some movement into my body, work on my fitness and technique, then get on with the rest of the day.You don’t have to make every workout epic.Sometimes the real win is having something useful, enjoyable and repeatable enough that you simply keep showing up for it.And if these rows become part of your own routine too, even better. Later in the workout I put it quite simply: I’ll keep making them as long as you keep rowing them. So whether you row for general fitness, technique, weight management, performance or just to feel better, this is a session you can adapt to your own level.Keep it easy like I do, push a little harder if this is your main workout, or use it as a gentle session between tougher training days.Workout21 min easy rowing4 min cool downLow stroke rateAround 3–4/10 effort for meTechnique coaching along the wayChapters00:00 Welcome to a chilly Glasgow00:28 Today’s 21 + 4 workout01:36 Set up the machine01:46 Seat position & posture02:38 Foot stretcher setup03:57 Handle grip04:29 Start rowing06:04 Why routine matters06:28 “That thing you do”07:35 Strapless rowing check10:00 Building fitness without making it hard16:00 Technique and connection21:27 Keep the arms straight22:31 Use more of your body23:55 Easy rowing gives you technique time24:38 When it becomes routine25:38 Let’s make a daily date27:21 Coaching myself as I row28:12 Using video to check your technique29:37 Know what you’re looking for29:52 Stretching⚠️ Health Warning:Please make sure you’re fit enough for exercise before taking part. 52. Keep the Easy Rows Easy | 25 Minute Follow Along Rowing Workout
45:09||Season 5, Ep. 52This 25 minute follow along rowing workout is a genuinely easy indoor rowing session for aerobic fitness, recovery and consistency — with one important rule: keep the easy rows easy.👉 Full RowAlong Daily Workout playlist:https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8ookhrQKwvKEfSfOxp73vX02j8LrtUilToday is 21 minutes of easy rowing followed by a 4 minute cool down, around 20 strokes per minute. The main idea is something I keep coming back to in training:Don’t turn every workout into a hard workout. These easier sessions build the fitness base that lets you perform well when it actually matters. If you think you’re getting faster, great — push the faster workouts when they’re meant to be fast. But don’t automatically turn the low-intensity rows into medium-intensity ones just because you can. That’s how an easy day quietly becomes another hard day.So today, we keep this one controlled, comfortable and useful. If this is your only workout today, you can of course make it a little firmer. But if you’re using it as part of a bigger training week, keep some energy in reserve.Workout21 min easy rowing4 min cool downAround 20 spmLow-intensity aerobic fitnessTechnique chat towards the endChapters00:00 Get fit the easy way?00:12 What “easy” means today00:46 Why duration matters01:34 Row really easy02:08 Set your resistance02:25 Seat position & posture03:18 Foot stretcher setup04:15 Handle grip05:19 Start rowing06:46 Ease into the pace08:28 2K training plan chat13:09 Why I’m keeping today super easy16:17 Where your fitness base comes from17:03 Why people push easy rows too hard20:23 Push the fast workouts instead21:54 When to change your easy pace23:31 Why I’m still keeping this one easy24:09 Finally... some technique26:02 Push the machine, don’t rush it26:40 Cool down43:09 The whole training philosophy in 30 seconds⚠️ Health Warning:Please make sure you’re fit enough for exercise before taking part. 51. Make Your Stroke Flow | 25 Minute Follow Along Rowing Workout
45:02||Season 5, Ep. 51This 25 minute follow along rowing workout helps you build better rowing technique, smoother power transfer and steady aerobic fitness by learning how to make the whole stroke flow together.👉 Full RowAlong Daily Workout playlist:https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8ookhrQKwvKEfSfOxp73vX02j8LrtUilToday’s session is 21 minutes of low-intensity rowing followed by a 4 minute cool down.I start gently, especially after taking a rest day, and use the easier pace to create space for technique work. The main idea today is simple:The rowing stroke shouldn’t happen in separate pieces.Your legs start the power.Your backswing overlaps that leg drive. Then your arms finish the stroke.Done well, those three parts blend together rather than happening as three isolated movements. That overlap helps keep the force curve smooth and helps the power keep moving through the machine from the catch all the way to the finish. So whether you’re chasing pace, working on your technique or simply using rowing to build fitness, today’s focus is:Make the stroke flow. There’s plenty of the usual randomness too — rest-day thoughts, force curves, DJ sets, questionable geography and a small rant about rowing advice on the internet — but the workout itself stays nice and controlled.Workout21 min low-intensity rowing4 min cool downLow stroke rateTechnique coaching throughoutFocus on smooth power transferChapters00:00 Apologies for yesterday00:28 Today’s workout01:20 Set your resistance02:05 Seat position & posture02:38 Foot stretcher setup03:42 Handle grip04:10 Start rowing06:33 Rest days and listening to your body09:57 Keeping the row genuinely easy13:13 Technique time13:43 Understanding the force curve16:44 Film yourself rowing17:09 Check your finish18:21 Hands away, sit up, tilt20:00 Connect the leg drive21:37 Legs and body overlap22:55 Add the arms to finish25:10 Cool down30:26 Stretching34:05 My problem with “teaser” coaching35:32 A CrossFit rowing video gets me started38:22 Legs, body, arms are NOT three separate moves39:04 Everything finishes together44:22 Final thoughts⚠️ Health Warning:Please make sure you’re fit enough for exercise before taking part. 50. You Get Out What You Put In | 25 Minute Follow Along Rowing Workout
50:15||Season 5, Ep. 50This 25 minute follow along rowing workout is about getting more from every stroke — whether you’re rowing for fitness, technique, speed, strength or simply to build a healthier routine.👉 Full RowAlong Daily Workout playlist:https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8ookhrQKwvKEfSfOxp73vX02j8LrtUilToday’s row is 21 minutes at low intensity, followed by a 4 minute cool down, with plenty of technique coaching along the way.And the big idea is simple:You get out what you put in.The rowing machine doesn’t create the workout for you. It gives you the opportunity to put force into it, and the more effectively you connect yourself to the stroke, the more you can get back in pace, fitness and training effect. That doesn’t mean every row has to be hard.Quite the opposite.Today I’m rowing at an easy intensity, but I’m still trying to sit well, connect well and put purposeful pressure through the legs rather than simply going through the motions. At one point I deliberately back right off and let the stroke go limp — and the pace drops dramatically. Then I put the leg drive back in and the pace comes straight back with it.That’s the point. You can make the same 25 minutes count for very different things depending on what you put into it. There is also, admittedly, rather more nonsense than usual today. The intro goes off the rails fairly quickly, I remove clothing, lose track of what I’m talking about, and later have an argument with my own feet.So technically it’s still a rowing workout. Mostly.Workout21 min low-intensity rowing4 min cool downLow stroke rateTechnique coaching throughoutEffort adjusted to your own goalChapters00:00 Possibly the strangest intro yet00:18 Today’s workout00:53 Set your resistance01:15 Seat position & posture02:15 Apparently I’m taking my clothes off02:33 Foot stretcher setup03:38 Handle grip04:40 Start rowing05:19 Arms away, sit up06:07 Sit up onto your sit bones09:38 Arms away, sit up, tilt16:20 You get out what you put in18:46 Reset the stroke22:25 What happens when you stop putting power in22:59 You get out what you put in — demonstrated24:00 The machine doesn’t do it for you25:41 Cool down30:20 Stretching34:11 I start shouting at my feet35:24 Quad stretch41:18 Upper-body stretch49:14 The workout has become an opus⚠️ Health Warning:Please make sure you’re fit enough for exercise before taking part. 49. Build Pace Through Stroke Rate | 35 Minute Row Along Workout | 2K Revisited WO9
44:56||Season 5, Ep. 49This 35 minute follow along rowing workout uses a simple 18–20–22–20–18 stroke-rate pyramid to build rhythm, pace control and aerobic fitness. It also doubles as Workout 9 of my 2K Revisited training plan.👉 Full RowAlong Daily Workout playlist:https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8ookhrQKwvKEfSfOxp73vX02j8LrtUilToday I’m crossing the streams. If you’re here for the Daily RowAlong Workout, this is a slightly longer session than usual: 35 minutes of continuous rowing with no separate cool down at the end.If you’re following the 2K Revisited plan, this is Workout 9.The structure is simple:7 min @ 18 spm7 min @ 20 spm7 min @ 22 spm7 min @ 20 spm7 min @ 18 spmFor the 2K plan, start around 2K pace +20 to +24 seconds and let the pace naturally increase as the rate rises. If you’re here for general fitness, you don’t need to worry about those pace targets at all. Row at an effort that suits you, use the changing stroke rates to explore rhythm and control, and simply get a solid 35 minutes of aerobic work done. The useful part of this session is feeling how pace can change as the stroke rate changes — without turning every increase in rate into a frantic sprint. At 18, you have more recovery time.At 20, the rhythm tightens. At 22, you add a little more pace and pressure. Then we work our way back down again. It’s a good session for learning how stroke rate, recovery speed, power and pace fit together, while still keeping the whole workout controlled.Chapters00:00 One row for two audiences00:31 Workout structure: 18–20–22–20–1801:02 Machine setup01:21 Posture and sit bones01:38 Foot stretcher setup02:31 Handle grip02:59 Start rowing — 18 spm10:04 Move to 20 spm11:57 How stroke rate changes recovery time16:54 Move to 22 spm17:52 Manage your energy23:57 Back down to 20 spm31:00 Back down to 18 spm35:00 Finish the 35-minute pyramid40:58 Technique: whole-foot drive and quads43:24 Daily Row + 2K Revisited wrap-up⚠️ Health Warning:Please make sure you’re fit enough for exercise before taking part. 48. Improve Your Rowing One Thing at a Time | Follow Along Workout
48:06||Season 5, Ep. 4825 minute rowing workout for indoor rowing fitness, technique and cardio. Follow along on your rowing machine as we row low intensity and focus on one thing at a time to improve your stroke. In today’s RowAlong Daily Workout, we keep things simple: 21 minutes of low intensity rowing, plus a short cool down, while focusing on one key technical idea at a time. Rather than trying to fix everything at once, this row is about improving your connection to the machine by zoning in on simple cues like arms away, sit up, relaxed fingers, leg connection and continuing power through the finish. This is ideal if you want a follow along rowing workout that helps with general fitness, cardio, technique and consistency without needing to smash yourself. Whether you row on a Concept2, WaterRower, Aviron, Merach or any indoor rowing machine, just match the effort to your own level and row along with me.If this is your only session today, you can row it a touch firmer. If it’s part of a bigger training day, keep it nice and relaxed and use it to build fitness, technique and confidence.Workout format: 21 minutes low intensity rowing 4 minutes cool down Low stroke rate Technique focus throughoutToday’s key idea:Do one thing well.Instead of overloading yourself with ten technical thoughts, choose one cue, improve it, and let that improvement help the rest of your stroke.Chapters0:00 Intro0:44 Today’s workout format1:28 How hard to row2:08 Drag factor and setup2:24 Sit bones and hip tilt3:24 Foot stretcher height4:08 Handle grip4:32 Start rowing5:04 Arms away, sit up7:36 Focus on one thing at a time9:58 Feel the handle connection12:57 Leg drive and quad push16:05 Timing the catch19:17 Continue power through the stroke20:50 Power into the finish25:51 Elbows through vs high finish30:03 Cool down and stretch👉 RowAlong website: https://rowalong.comHealth warning:If you’re new to exercise, returning after a break, or have any medical concerns, please check with a qualified health professional before starting. 47. Make Your Power Count | 25 Minute Follow Along Rowing Workout
41:57||Season 5, Ep. 47Build a stronger, more effective rowing stroke in this 25 minute follow along rowing workout. I’ll show you how to carry power from the leg drive, through the body swing and all the way to the finish.👉 Full RowAlong Daily Workout playlist:https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8ookhrQKwvKEfSfOxp73vX02j8LrtUilA powerful rowing stroke isn’t just about pushing hard with your legs. The important bit is what happens after that initial drive.Today I spend time on how to stay connected to the machine and keep the force going as the legs fade, the body swings and the arms finish the stroke. If that connection disappears early, you can work hard at the front and still leave useful power behind. But when the stroke stays connected all the way through, you give yourself a better chance of rowing faster and you involve more of the muscles that make rowing such a useful full-body workout. So whether you’re chasing performance, improving your rowing technique or simply trying to get the most from your fitness session, today’s cue is simple:Start the power — then carry it all the way through.Today is 21 minutes at low intensity followed by a 4 minute cool down, with plenty of time to practise the movement without having to chase pace.Chapters00:00 Welcome & workout overview00:25 Set your resistance00:44 Seat position & posture01:15 Foot stretcher setup01:50 Handle grip02:27 Start rowing06:39 Understanding the force curve08:17 What happens when the finish fades09:54 The important part10:23 Legs, body, arms — and power transfer12:00 Connect feet to hands12:42 Keep the power flowing13:47 Brace against the handle14:03 Carry the force through the stroke20:22 Stay connected through the lats22:17 How much pace can the finish cost?23:19 Keep the power to the back23:30 Cool down25:31 Timing the connection at the front26:46 Continue the power to the finish27:09 Why this matters for general fitness too28:08 Finish-position drill30:16 Stretching⚠️ Health Warning:Please make sure you’re fit enough for exercise before taking part.
