Rigore! - The Italian Football Podcast

We return after the international break to discuss Italy's performances (reasons to be hopeful) and discuss the return of Serie A and Fiorentina's defeat to Genoa (reasons to be despondent). This episode was recorded before Venezia's loss to Atalanta (and Stroppa's sacking) so Marco isn't as miserable as he could have been...

After a week's hiatus to allow Marco to recover from losing the Rigore! derby, we are back and things are going from bad to worse for Venezia, who sit dead last in Serie A with zero points... Things have improved somewhat for Fiorentina since the appointment of Vanoli however. At the top, Inter, Roma and Lazio are setting the early pace, while Cagliari and Frosinone are the surprise packages. Plus, we discuss Mancini's first Italy squad since his reappointment.

No reprieve from the misery this week as both Venezia and Fiorentina continue their poor starts - but it must all change next week when they face each other at the Penzo! At the other end of the table, things are hotting up and though it is early days, it looks like there could be a 4 or 5 way battle for the Scudetto!NOTE - we recorded this before Grosso's sacking, so we will address that in the next pod!

From bad to worse for Fiorentina as they lose badly at home to Frosinone, while Venezia put up a decent performance in Milan but are still on 0 points. Elsewhere, Juve get off to a good start, a big win for Como, and we discuss some of the latest transfers, as well as the up-to-date rumours about the Azzurri.

We're back! And so is our misery as Fiorentina and Venezia both get off to poor starts in the new Serie A season... Elsewhere, Inter win big, Milan, Napoli and Lazio win, and we analyse the farce that was the Azzurri summer. Ah, it's good to be back...

And so the curtain drops on another season. We look at how Milan blew it in the race for the CL, Marco actually praises Como, and we look forward to a summer of transfer rumours and speculation.
