Welcome to the Revive MS Support podcast with Sunny Govan Community Radio. Throughout this series, we’ll explore Multiple Sclerosis, our services and our community. In this episode, we'll be talking about winter issues.
Jill French, our Lead Physiotherapist, and Darran Lightbody, Physio Assistant at Revive, will be offering tips and tricks for getting exercise and staying active during the colder months; Alan Steven, Welfare & Benefits Officer, and Gareth, one of our Revive clients, will be sharing their experiences with the cost of living crisis, offering money advice and how you can get support; Andrew Kennedy, Chef & Café Manager at Revive, will be talking us through hearty seasonal recipes and cooking suggestions; and Geraldine Mynors, Counselling Coordinator at Revive, will be helping us look after our mental health and giving suggestions of how to stay connected with other people and activities this winter.

Our Revive team – Julie Dock, MS Specialist Nurse, Jacqui Ritchie, Speech & Language Therapist and Anja Ruegg, Advocacy Officer – share tips on how to approach your employer and manage your symptoms while at work or in education. Then, Stephen and Lorraine, two Revive clients, share their stories and experiences of employment following their diagnoses.

Together they talk through their services at Revive and discuss the range of classes hosted at the centre, including yoga, Pilates, gym sessions, Speak & Sing, Memory Matters and Fatigue Management. We’ll also be talking to David Hinds, our Oxygen Therapy Technician, who will explain the process of using our Hyperbaric Oxygen chamber and tell the story of how Revive originally was set up by people with MS and their families. This is the final episode in the current series, and we will return with more from Revive in autumn 2023.

In this episode, we meet Andrew Kennedy, Café Manager, who talks about the busy social space at the heart of our centre. Helen, Susan and Roberta, three of the supporters’ ambassadors at Revive, discuss the sometimes difficult realities of supporting a loved one with MS, the changes a diagnosis brings to the lives of everyone involve and how the carers’ community at Revive support each other. And finally, Iain McWhirter, CEO, and Rochelle McGuinness, share the fundraising activity and events which help to raise the essential funds that keep our services running. We have two supporters’ groups running monthly throughout 2023 at Revive. On the first Friday of each month, the group meets from 10.30 am - 12 noon, and on the third Thursday, the group meets from 5.30 pm - 7 pm.
