#50 - The Harsh Reality of Making Life Decisions

Ep. 50

I don’t know about you, but I’ve never taken a class on decision-making. My parents never sat me down and taught me how to think deeply about the consequences of my actions.

When it comes to making life choices, the only teacher I’ve ever had was life itself. I’ve made decisions, those decisions have had consequences, and then I’ve analyzed those consequences with the hopes that I’ll be able to make even better decisions in the future.

But I’m a human being… and naturally, I want to feel a sense of certainty that the decisions I make will lead to the outcomes I desire. — And I’m sure you’re no different.

  • How do I know if I’m making the right decision?
  • How do I know if I should be persistent and keep moving toward my goal, or just quit and find something else to do?
  • How do I know if I’m using my time in the best way possible?

These are questions that all of us have asked or will ask ourselves at some point in life. And the harsh reality is that in most cases, the only person who can answer these question for us is the person we see in the mirror every morning.

But still, we continue to look to others for guidance, advice, and answers. — And in today’s episode, I’m gonna play a clip of a young lady looking for advice on how to know if she’s on the right path in life. — And the entrepreneur and content creator, Gary Vaynerchuk is going to share a perspective that I believe could help you to find some direction in your life as well.

My good friend Matheus has returned to the podcast yet again, y'all. Today's episode comes from a chat we had about the reason it's so easy for us to make conversation with each other. Unfortunately, we had some technical difficulties and lost the second half of this chat, but there's still some good food for thought in this clip!If you want to listen to this show without interruptions from advertisers, subscribe to my patreon 👉 https://patreon.com/realenglishradio — Every dollar goes to funding my caffeine addiction so I can stay sane enough to record another episode for you… much love.

For some people, the idea that the way you talk is largely determined by the color of your skin is a bit strange. But in the U.S., talking ‘like a black person’ or ‘like a white person’ is an idea that’s deeply ingrained in our culture. This episode is a short story that illustrates the idea and gives you a bit of context to help you understand it.If you want to listen to this show without interruptions from advertisers, subscribe to my patreon 👉 https://patreon.com/realenglishradio — Every dollar goes to funding my caffeine & nicotine addiction so I can stay sane enough to record another episode for you… much love.
