In this episode, I’m diving into something most people misunderstand completely: flexibility. Not the “touch your toes” kind, but the real, foundational kind that affects your health span, your longevity, your balance, your strength, and honestly, the way you move through every decade of your life.


I’m breaking down why you don’t lose flexibility just because you stopped stretching. What’s actually happening is far deeper. Your joints begin losing their natural glide, the space inside them starts to narrow, and your muscles tighten to protect what your body can no longer trust. Those tiny changes you feel when you wake up stiff, turn slower, or struggle to get to the floor? They’re early signals that your flexibility system is shifting.


In this Flexibility 101 episode, I walk you through the six domains that make up your body’s flexibility toolkit. We’re talking readiness, mobility, deep stability, strength, recovery, and composition. Each of these plays a critical role in how your joints move, how your nervous system responds, and how your muscles stay active and strong.


I also dig into what happens when flexibility slips away silently over the years, why your reaction time changes, why your posture shifts, why your muscles feel tight even after stretching, and how this all connects to joint health, aging, and the long game of staying capable in your seventies, eighties, and beyond.


And before we get into the weeds, I give credit where it’s due. Dr. Peter Attia’s conversation around lifespan and health span set the stage for this deeper look at movement.
