Ratbag with Mel & Sam
Sinners, School Reunions And The Matcha Extension From Hell
Hello angel pies. It’s that time of the week. Thank you oh so very much for joining us for another gorgy lil’ laid back chat where we get to catch you up on our weeks and what’s going on in our worlds!
In this episode, Lucy poisons Mel with the drink from hell before sharing the iconic story of how her boldness got her a job at the Aunty Donna office, Mel tells the story of how she almost didn’t get cast in ‘Fangirls’ and the girls collectively unpack their thoughts on the film ‘Sinners’. (Spoiler alert: we are NOT aligned on this one, boys!!!)
Sammy also tells us all about how she bravely stood up to some homophobes at the gym this week (all comment how proud we are of her pls!!) and the gals giggle about the expectations v. reality of school reunions.
We hope you enjoy this Sleepover Club reunion ep. We love having Lucy with us when Tom can’t be here, and we’re also sending you all lil smooches on the forehead to say “hope you’re having beautiful weeks wherever you are!”
We love ya, and we’ll see you for another ep on Monday!
xx

36. The World Hates Theatre Kids & Rachel Zegler’s Evita
37:11||Ep. 36Hello cutie pies! Hope you’re all having lovely weeks. Thanks for joining for this really fun Ratfood. In this ep, we go for a biiiiiiiiig deep dive on theatre kids and the DEEP desire to perform coolness and to distance ourselves from being labelled as theatre kids. We started the chat with Renee Rapp a few weeks ago, but we go deeper this week, chatting about how the world hates theatre kids, how ‘coolness’ is perceived in our space and how ridiculous every single bit of it all is … and yet! Sometimes all-consuming!We also have some chats about stage door etiquette, about what we all owe each other in the performer-audience relationship and where the line is in what performers are expected to deliver when they exit the theatre. We loved just chin-wagging on this topic and we find it SUPER and endlessly interesting, so we hope there’s something interesting in it for you also! Please leave your thoughts in the comments we love reading them!Lots of love as always and we’ll see you for another Ratbag this coming Monday.Big fat cheese cubes to you all.xxMel & Sam—You can watch the full video form of this episode on YouTube HERE: https://youtube.com/@themelandsam?si=jzeN-E_-DcE-DGHSFollow Mel & Sam on Instagram (@themelandsam) to keep up with all things pod, live shows and other nonsense. Mel & Sam Force Sentimentality on Flo & Joan
01:02:59||Ep. 34Hello there rats and get ready for another beautiful guest ep with two women that are kind of Mel and Sam but in a different, more stoic-&-British font: it’s Flo & Joan! Rosie and Nicola are the two sisters behind iconic UK musical comedians ‘Flo & Joan’ who have made a name for themselves performing all over the world with their witty songs. They are the two writers behind the critically acclaimed show: ‘One Man Musical’ and have an upcoming Amazon Original 'Alive On Stage' hitting screens in August! In today’s episode the four musical gals sit down and chat everything from Andrew Lloyd-Webber to iconic British slang and of course end with a ‘Hit It Toots!’ but this time we’re branching out as Diva Mice.We look up to Flo & Joan very much and the fact they said yes to us, especially in the depths of comedy fest, means a bloody lot! So we hope you enjoy! Love ya guts and don’t forget about our lifffeeee-changing Thursday ‘Ratfood’s’ too!! 45:31||Ep. 33Hey cuties!! Welcome to today’s Ratfood where we’re pretty much just having a big fat catch up, guvna! And you’re invited along for the ride - zoom lags and overlaps and all! This is the longest we’ve ever gone without speaking (not an exaggeration) and boy do we have THINGS TO CATCH UP ON! Sammy tells us allllll about her time at Prima Vera Sound in Barcelona, about how she got fyre-festivaled, how the sets were of our top 3 pop girlies and some of the things that really surprised her about some of the artists’ sets.We also unpack all our thoughts on the Sabrina Carpenter album cover BONANZA, as well as critiquing it alongside the Fletcher ‘coming out’ saga amongst other (what some are calling) ‘sings of societal regression’ from the last few weeks.Hope you’re all having beautiful weeks wherever you are, and if you need Mel, she’ll be busy going after world domination on Cooking Dash, and if you need Sam, she’ll be arriving at Heathrow airport 73 hours early to come home to her best friend TOOT SUITE.You know the drill - come see us in Sydney if you wanna come see a live show of ‘The Platonic Human Centipede’ (https://events.humanitix.com/the-platonic-human-centipede) and we’ll see you very soon.xxMel & Sam—You can watch the full video form of this episode on YouTube HERE: https://youtube.com/@themelandsam?si=jzeN-E_-DcE-DGHSFollow Mel & Sam on Instagram (@themelandsam) to keep up with all things pod, live shows and other nonsense. 43:24||Ep. 33Hey rat! Hope you're reading this with an undercurrent of fluttering flutes and shimmery strings because today's a whimsical solo ep!! Sorry about it!! To kick off the episode Sam brings in a gorgeous list where people share the ways they bring out whimsy in their day to day life, and this list is actually adorable.
