Ratbag with Mel & Sam
Mel & Sam Force Sentimentality on Flo & Joan
Hello there rats and get ready for another beautiful guest ep with two women that are kind of Mel and Sam but in a different, more stoic-&-British font: it’s Flo & Joan! Rosie and Nicola are the two sisters behind iconic UK musical comedians ‘Flo & Joan’ who have made a name for themselves performing all over the world with their witty songs. They are the two writers behind the critically acclaimed show: ‘One Man Musical’ and have an upcoming Amazon Original 'Alive On Stage' hitting screens in August! In today’s episode the four musical gals sit down and chat everything from Andrew Lloyd-Webber to iconic British slang and of course end with a ‘Hit It Toots!’ but this time we’re branching out as Diva Mice.
We look up to Flo & Joan very much and the fact they said yes to us, especially in the depths of comedy fest, means a bloody lot! So we hope you enjoy!
Love ya guts and don’t forget about our lifffeeee-changing Thursday ‘Ratfood’s’ too!!

61. Happy 2026!!! Now go talk to your neighbours!!!
46:45||Ep. 61Hello there rats and welcome to the new year... well... the week of the new year!!!In today's episode we bring back our 'ins and outs' for 2026, and from Mel's desire for us to chat to our neighbours and Sam's interest in bringing 'toe socks' back, our lists are packed! We then reflect on the year that was, the highlights, the lowlights and the things we are grateful for (a huge one being you) in the bumper year that was 2025. Our 'Kick Ons' has us designing our own dream NYE party whilst skipping NO details, and building the beach hang of our dreams, and then our 'Hit It Toots!' has us improvising the perfect, soulless, corporate New Years song. A terrific ai-spooky-but-actually-live-by-us song that is the perfect way to shiver into the new year. Thanks as always for listening, we love you!!See you on Thursday for another ‘Ratfood!’Love you alwaysXX Mel and Sam—You can watch the full video form of this episode on YouTube HERE: https://bit.ly/MelAndSamYouTubeFollow Mel & Sam on Instagram (@themelandsam) to keep up with all things pod, live shows and other nonsense. 59. The Mum-Ification Of Mel Abroad
32:21||Ep. 59Hi beauties. It’s been a really dark and heavy week in Australia this week. We hope that this half hour of silly, light chats can help to provide the tiniest reprieve. We are sending an extra bit of love to all our listeners this week after the atrocities that occurred in Bondi on Sunday night. We love you. In today’s ep, Mel goes innnnnnnn on some of her silliest tales from her incredible trip to Thailand, Vietnam and Laos. It’s giving “ask not what you can do for your Fatphobia, but what your Fatphobia can do for YOUUUU”. We unpack the Chatty Kathy effect while travelling, what it’s like travelling with a partner (fights included - OBVIOUSLY), the devastation of saying goodbye to any hope of looking hot in a travel photo and of course … the Mum-Ification of Mel O’Brien. Steps 1, 2 and 3. We hope these travel stories make you giggle! Love and cheese cubes to you all this Ratfood day, and we will of course see you for another Ratbag on Monday.Go gently this week, treasures. 59. Siri Is A Nimwit, And Some Other Gripes With Tech
39:55||Ep. 59Well HIIIII rats! Thanks for joining us yet again! In today's episode Mel brings her heated list of her current gripes with technology, and from forms and their inability to accept an apostrophe, to maps hating when you 'add a stop' we hope this list feels cathartic. We then get right into a listener story involving a ghost and Mel tries her best to pretend she belives in ghosts, and let's just say this, she needs to work on her acting. There's then a fun riff around the things we hated as kids that we now love as adults, and we sing from the perspective of Siri and a Ghost. Thanks as always for having us in your weekly rotation.See you on Thursday for another ‘Ratfood!’Love you alwaysXX Mel and Sam—You can watch the full video form of this episode on YouTube HERE: https://bit.ly/MelAndSamYouTubeFollow Mel & Sam on Instagram (@themelandsam) to keep up with all things pod, live shows and other nonsense.
