Armstrong's musical journey began in the early 1980s when he formed the band Local Heroes SW9, releasing albums like Drip Dry Zone (1980) and New Opium (1981). His talent led him to work with Thomas Dolby on albums The Golden Age of Wireless and The Flat Earth.
