Plymouth Changing Futures podcast
Partnership Development for Youth Transition
Season 1, Ep. 6
•
Gemma Doyle works at The Zone in Plymouth. She is the Partnership Development Coordinator for Youth Transition. Part of her role is funded by Changing Futures to look into how young people, working with statutory & other services in Plymouth, experience the transition from youth to adult services. As Gemma tells us, it's not about necessarily making changes if they are not needed. It's about asking those who are or have experienced the process - what was it like? what would have made it a better experience for you? what can we do to support you? etc.

8. ILP & The Peer Researchers - The Director's Cut!
23:12||Season 1, Ep. 8This episode is a longer version of episode 7 - ILP & The Peer Researchers - to include a portion that we needed to edit out for episode 7. This was entirely my fault. I have worked within Plymouth's housing & advice services for nearing 30yrs & never quite got around to asking where Improving Lives Plymouth came from, in fact who there were. This was my opportunity! I found it really interesting, but it did distract from the actual point of the original conversation! Please check out the ILP website for further information & how to refer into the services.
7. ILP & The Peer Researchers
18:14||Season 1, Ep. 7Welcome to episode 7 of our Changing Futures podcast. This is a conversation with Deborah Atter from Improving Lives Plymouth, here to talk more her role & the role of *The Peer Researchers in the Changing Futures programme* - Deb works with the team on the recruitment & support of the new Peer Researchers. Having Peer Researchers welcomed in some of Plymouth's service is really positive. They will be taking on service specific roles, with the aim to support the teams & provide some learned experience insight. If you want to learn a bit more about Improving Lives Plymouth, episode 8 includes a few extra minutes on who ILP are & their beginnings. Please check out the ILP website for further information & how to refer into the services. (clink link)
5. Property Standards in Temporary Accommodation
13:39||Season 1, Ep. 5Today we hear from Paul Green who has been funded by the Changing Futures programme to improve property standards in Plymouth's temporary accommodation. Specifically properties used by Plymouth City Council & the Alliance as accommodation provided to homeless singles & families, until a permanent home can be found. Paul works closely with the residents & the landlords in doing the property standard assessment (HHSRS) & then finding solutions to any problems found. Delicate work at times.
4. Cultural Inclusion & the Criminal Justice System
20:35||Season 1, Ep. 4In this episode I talk to Amanda Sherriff from Clinks. She has been doing some fabulous work for the Changing Futures programme around Cultural Inclusion within the Criminal Justice System. This has, logically, created an opportunity to open up real conversations about race. To create safe environments for groups to have open & honest conversations with the hope that we can start to really understand what it means to be a multi cultural society - how much colour diversity brings to our City. Thank you Amanda. Can't wait to participate in the training!
