Phil Wilson Interviews Lola Lennox - New Music - Annie Lennox - Eg White

The renowned voice of the airwaves, Phil Wilson, famous for his morning show "Phil Wilson In The Morning" on Radio Shields, Saturday 7-10am and the syndicated sensation "Phil Wilson's Vinyl Revival," engages again in a captivating conversation with the soulful and honest Lola Lennox.

Lola Lennox’s Dreamer EP, is produced by Braeden Wright and executively produced by Annie Lennox, features five songs written and performed by Lola. Vibrant upbeat, and catchy, while also showcasing more reflective and melancholic moments, the Dreamer EP sees Lola wears her heart on her sleeve, as she draws the listener into her world with her soaring vocals and catchy melodic songwriting.

The “Dreamer” single is an uplifting yet contemplative song that looks back on Lola’s younger self and how her dreams have shaped her life over the years. Reverberating with exciting and shimmering tones, it juxtaposes infectious melodies and driving rhythms with nostalgic lyrics, melancholic chords and oscillating strings. It packs a classic pop anthem punch, that draws you in into Lola’s world of memories and dreams for the future.

The accompanying music video for “Dreamer”, was shot in Los Angeles and directed by Alexis Gudino (Jennifer Lopez, Annie Lennox, Marc Anthony). A homage to how young and innocent aspirations can turn into reality, and how the seed of a dream can bloom, the video opens with Lola singing at the piano. As it evolves, we are invited to look back on memories captured through photographs and home video recordings of Lola’s life, witnessing the chapters of Lola’s years, from dancing in the kitchen as a child in the 90s through to playing her first live shows in her twenties.

Lola’s Dreamer EP features a brand-new song, “Hourglass”, a heart aching balled written, recorded and produced alongside Eg White (Adele, Sam Smith, Florence and The Machine) in his London studio, which reflects on a dismantling love and questions why love and pain can be so inextricably linked.

Other songs on the EP include Lola’s previously released critically acclaimed singles “Want More”, "Love Like That”, and “Wherever You Go”.

Lola performed tracks from her Dreamer EP live for the first time in the UK during A Special Gala Evening of Music with Roger Daltrey and Friends of Teenage Cancer Trust on 26th March 2023 alongside two-time Ivor Novello winner Richard Ashcroft, Far From Saints and Joan Armatrading. Lola joined Underworld, Wet Leg, Jake Bugg, Courteeners and Kasabian for the historic annual Royal Albert Hall concert series to raise money

for the Teenage Cancer Trust charity.

Lola has been earmarked as an artist to watch by everyone from The Sunday Times, Music Week and NME to Vogue Italia, Wonderland Magazine and Numero.

The renowned voice of the airwaves, Phil Wilson, renowned for his morning show "Phil Wilson In The Morning" on Affinity Radio, Saturday 7-10am and the syndicated sensation "Phil Wilson's Vinyl Revival," engages again in a captivating conversation with The Hollies lead singer Allan Clarke. As lead singer of The Hollies, Allan Clarke presided over one of the greatest pop groups to emerge from the early 1960s British Rock revolution, when music began to shake the world. With their soaring, distinctive harmonies, brilliantly crafted songs and cultivated musicianship, their extensive back catalogue remains one of the most enduring and celebrated in popular music history.Allan Clarke was born in Salford on 5th April 1942 and began singing with his childhood friend Graham Nash while they were still at school. They formed The Hollies in 1962, and just a year later found themselves in Studio 3 at Abbey Road Studios with two humble guitar amplifiers and a drumkit. From that moment on the hits kept coming and the band from such humble beginnings were to go on and influence everything that came to follow.30 Top Ten UK hits, 26 US chart singles, worldwide tours and songs that would become staples of radio across the globe followed - ‘I’m Alive’, ‘Carrie-Ann’, ‘Bus Stop’, ‘Look Through Any Window’, ‘The Air That I Breathe’ and the No.1 ‘He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother’. But as that song says...the road is long, with many a winding turn.In 1999, Allan announced his retirement from the music industry due to ongoing medical problems with his vocal chords and following his wife, Jennifer’s second cancer diagnosis, having successfully beaten the disease some 15 years earlier. He decided that the time had come to enjoy everything he had worked for and achieved and most importantly to spend precious time with his loved ones. Despite greatly enjoying his retirement there were still more trials to face. Allan’s daughter was diagnosed with cancer and like her mother, went on to beat the disease into remission, but it wasn’t until his own diagnosis that he even began to consider music seriously again. Having been told to rest up following treatment, Allan found himself writing poetry and picking up his guitar. Songs began to form and with no intention of recording or releasing them he played some ideas to his son Toby, a musician himself, who pointed him towards recording software programme GarageBand.Newly equipped with the means to make his own music at his own pace, the creative floodgates opened. Allan brought in Francis Haines, a former collaborator, as producer and arranger, and soon a body of work was taking shape. Even at that stage, he wasn't thinking of the project as an album — but then word reached one of his countless industry admirers, BMG CEO Hartwig Masuch. A deal was struck, and 2020’s Resurgence album was born. With another album’s worth of songs written, I’ll Never Forget might lead to more rock & roll magic. Whatever the future holds, these songs are worthy of Allan Clarke’s finest moments, and it’s an unforgettable experience. Please visit https://www.buymeacoffee.com/celebrityphil to show your support. The renowned voice of the airwaves, Phil Wilson, famous for his morning show "Phil Wilson In The Morning" on Affinity Radio, Saturday 7-10am and the syndicated sensation "Phil Wilson's Vinyl Revival," engages again in a captivating conversation with "Doin' The Doo" Betty Boo.Rip Up The Rulebook finds the Boo in rare form as she continues on a songwriting roll that began during lockdown, saw the release of 2022’s Boomerang - the first new Boo music since 1992 - and hasn’t stopped yet.Chiming with messages of female empowerment from one of the originalfaces of GRRRl power, Rip Up The Rulebook looks set to soundtrackcountless nights out (and the inevitable lost days that follow them).Betty Boo’s fourth album also finds her paying homage to her musical roots as a pioneer in the early hip-hop scene of the 1980s. During that period, shewrote and self-produced music as one of the She Rockers before ending up on tour supporting Public Enemy across the States when she should still have been in school several years before her mega-hit singles in the early ’90s. The album’s title track finds Betty Boo duetting with one of the scene’s true originators, Grandmaster Caz - the author of the lyrics to Rapper’s Delight (and star of the 2012 film Something From Nothing: The Art Of Rap, which was Executive produced by BB’s alter-ego, Alison Clarkson).“I loved making Boomerang so much that I kept writing. I’m proud of these songs and grateful to be back creating music full-time. The album title Rip Up The Rulebook is my response to stereotypical ideas about what women should be doing in their fifties. I have never had so much fun making music (with my friends Andy Wright and Gavin Goldberg). Long may it continue”.Betty Boo, May ’24.Rip Up The Rulebook was recorded at Betty Boo’s house and at Qube West, London, where it was also mixed. It was produced by Andy Wright, Gavin Goldberg and Betty Boo.Following the release of Rip Up The Rulebook, Betty Boo will release deluxe editions of her first two albums. Boomania and GRRR! It's Betty Boo that is due for release in time for Christmas, alongside more UK live dates. Please visit https://www.buymeacoffee.com/celebrityphil to show your support.
