Paris is a Party

As summer officially begins (remember Fete de la Musique = first day of summer!!) I highlight a few things happening in and around Paris. Some things I find *chic* and others I find *cringe.* There's also an important and exciting moment on the horizon for the fashion world just before les vacances commence. A slew of new designers are set to take over in Paris. This change begins at the end of June with J. W. Anderson's first show for Dior Homme followed by the last studio-designed Chanel Couture show before Matthieu Blazy takes over in the fall. I try to contextualize the significance of this moment from my POV and experience working with both brands here in Pairs.

Mes amis, je reviens! At long last I'm back with another solo show giving you the much longed for update on life which includes our move to the 18th and the excitement around that process which coincided with Paris Fashion Week. Real drama AND fashion drama! In addition to that whole update/story, I share some of the things that I'm loving right now about spring in Paris, including: light-wash denim, baguette (summer be damned!) and fully flourishing trees.I'm also so excited to introduce and unveil my new logo / design format. New year, new me! Actually, just solo me. In this episode, the first of a new season, I explore a core memory of Paris and one of my favorite events during the summer : Fête de la Musique. Please welcome to the stage: JJ! In the early 2010s JJ and I studied abroad together in Paris. We were neighbors living on the same street and yet our paths never crossed. It wasn’t until a few years later, in NYC, when we finally met and discovered our shared connection to Paris.  We discuss the impact of study abroad, the mythologies/legends of Paris, French theater, why Paris is associated with romance while NYC is associated with destruction, and some of our favorite memories / moments spent in Paris.  

Catharine Dahm is a designer and creative living in 11th arrondissement of Paris (not far from me!) Originally from the midwest we discuss the ways in which a meandering path exploring her different interests and talents led to her current life in Paris. We discuss her creative process, projects, and day-to-day aspects of living in France that are challenging and rewarding.

The one and only Stefan, hailing from The Big Apple, joins me for a short and sweet apéro hour party / podcast session. This is my first *visitor* on Paris is a Party and oh! what a treat it is to have him joining me. We dive deep on fashion (brands brands brands, galore!), Paris styles, and how Paris transformed into an even brighter and more cosmopolitan city than it was when Stefan first visited (at the sweet sweet age of 16).Enjoy this one and thank you for tuning in!

It's been a long time coming....this particular episode was recorded three times due to various technical difficulties but we finally got there, making it the most special episode yet! Colleen, a Paris Grande Dame, joins me to discuss what first inspired her about France, how she established herself as a lawyer in Paris, and what it is about Paris and French culture that is both charming (food, the countryside, small neighborhoods) and sometimes horrible (no sense of customer service). Amy is about to leave Paris but won't go without first saying goodbye. Thank god for that! In truth, Amy is like many of us: dreaming of living in Paris and trying to figure out how to make it happen. I'm catching Amy right before she leaves to the US in the hopes of finally getting her paperwork approved and returning to start her life in the City of Light. As an American expat whose lived in NYC, LA, and CDMX, we explore what it is about Paris and French culture that inspires Amy. We discuss the visa process, the French attitude, the difficulties and joys of living abroad, and her favorite places to eat/drink/go out.
