It's Friday afternoon, the trade deadline has passed, and now it's time to recap everything the Edmonton Oilers got done or didn't get done at the NHL's annual swap 'n shop. On today's show, we discussed the Oilers losing Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid, their loss to the Winnipeg Jets, and what comes next for the team.We kicked off the podcast with a delicious debate about what the Oilers will do with their line combinations with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl out of the lineup for the next three games. Needless to say, losing your two best players is a massive issue regardless of the team, and now it will be up to the rest of the roster to do what they can to fill the void. The Edmonton Oilers suffered a painful loss at the hands of the Buffalo Sabres on Monday, which meant there was plenty to discuss on the first episode of Oilersnation Radio of the week. Obviously, the expectations in Edmonton are sky-high after going to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, and the question will be whether Stan Bowman could have done more. While everyone on the podcast wished for more, no one was all that disappointed in the deals that actually got done. Looking at what the Oilers did get done, we looked at the three players Stan Bowman acquired and walked through what the team saw in each of them. For a team that was looking to add some truculence and puck-moving skills, these three new players will certainly help to accomplish that goal. We're only a few days away from the NHL trade deadline, which meant there was plenty to discuss on the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. Is there anything better than a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio to recap Canada's win over the USA at the 4 Nations Face-Off while also previewing tomorrow's return for the Edmonton Oilers? I didn't think so. On this week's podcast, we discussed Connor McDavid's game-winner over the USA, how excited we are for the Olympics, previewed Saturday's Oilers game, and much more. We kicked off the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio with a delicious debate about the Canadian Olympic team since we're only a year out from the next best-on-best tournament and what adjustments we would make to the lineup. Obviously, Team Canada put together an all-star team for the 4 Nations tournament, but does that mean there isn't room for improvement?
