Oilersnation Radio
Oilers trade talk, roster management, and the big coaching question
It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' first-round exit, what changes to expect in Edmonton, line combinations, injury updates, and more.
We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about who out of Stan Bowman, Darnell Nurse, Tristan Jarry, and Kris Knoblauch will be around next year. Given that there will be plenty of changes over the summer, the guys looked at the four most talked-about names and took a few swings at who they think will be around when October rolls around. That led to a debate about which of those guys are likely to be around, not because they're necessarily wanted, but rather because contracts make it likely.
Shifting gears, the boys looked at Evan Bouchard being snubbed from being a Norris Trophy finalist. As you'll hear, Rick was very passionate about No. 2 not getting a nod for the award, and how it seems unfathomable that the year he had wasn't worth being named as one of the NHL's three best defencemen. The fellas also discussed Connor McDavid's Hart Trophy nomination and how Liam thinks it's all but a guarantee that he wins the award.
Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots, betting talk for our friends at bet365, and Hot and Cold Performers to look back on the week that was. With the playoffs firmly underway, the guys spent the bulk of the podcast moving through a range of topics, most related to the Oilers' off-season, some not, but that’s the way things go on the Friday episode of ONR.

552. The Oilers' off-season begins
01:05:06||Ep. 552It's Tuesday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' post-season pressers, the Dynamic Duo's scathing comments, free agency, injury updates, and more.We kicked off the Tuesday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about how concerned everyone was about the post-season press conferences, given that the Dynamic Duo didn't exactly pull punches with their answers. From the team not being good enough to even taking steps backward, the messaging from the Oilers' best players was as blunt as you could get. Needless to say, when Draisaitl and McDavid speak as honestly as they do, Edmonton's management desperately needs to take notice. Shifting gears, the boys called David Quadrelli from Canucksarmy to see if they could pitch him a trade proposal live on the podcast, with the Oilers sending Tristan Jarry or Darnell Nurse to Vancouver to clear cap space. As you'll hear, some of the boys' ideas were well received by Quads, while others were shot down almost immediately. They also discussed the Oilers' coaching situation after news came out of Tampa Bay that Jon Cooper isn't going anywhere, ruining the dreams the guys started on Friday's episode. Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of the podcast with another round of betting talk for our friends at bet365, and a round of Tenable about the World Championships to add a little levity after a very annoying week. With the playoff run wrapped up and cut short, the boys spent the bulk of the podcast moving through a range of topics, most related to the playoffs, some not, but that’s the way things go during the off-season on ONR.📺 Subscribe for Edmonton Oilers coverage, NHL news, playoff analysis, and hockey podcasts🤝 SPONSORS🙌 Powered by Bet365 → http://www.bet365.ca/(Use code: NATION)🥙 Swiss Donair → https://swissdonair.com/

551. Breakding down the Oilers' Game 6 loss and looking ahead at a busy summer
01:01:56||Ep. 551It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' first-round exit, what changes to expect in Edmonton, line combinations, injury updates, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about whether the boys were more frustrated or sad after the Oilers got kicked out of the playoffs in the first round. After making it to the Stanley Cup Final the past two seasons, it's hard to make sense of what went wrong for a team that had much higher expectations for itself. As a second delicious debate, the boys discussed whether Kris Knoblauch will be behind the bench when the 2026-27 season kicks off.Shifting gears, the boys looked at some of the decisions the Oilers made throughout the year, and how some of the moves turned out okay, while others have been complete disasters. Starting with the coaching, the boys wondered whether Kris Knoblauch will be behind the bench when the next season kicks off. Given that there are some quality coaches currently available, would the Oilers want to pull the trigger on that move early to leave their options open? Or will they bring back for another tour, given that his contract extension just kicks in this year? Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots, betting talk for our friends at bet365, and Hot and Cold Performers to look back on the week that was. From Connor Ingram’s steady play in net, to Leon Draisaitl stepping up, and Connor McDavid still searching for his top gear, there’s plenty to unpack early in this series.Dubnyk also answers your questions on the biggest differences between regular season and playoff hockey, how Anaheim has managed to slow down Edmonton’s stars, and whether there’s any chance of a change in goal. The playoffs are just getting started—and if the Oilers can clean things up, things could get scary for the Ducks.💬 Got a question for Dubey?Drop it in the comments or use #AskDubey for a chance to be featured in the next episode!👍 Like, subscribe, and stay locked in with Oilers Nation for full NHL playoff coverage, pregame shows, and Oilersnation After Dark all postseason long.🤝 SPONSORSPowered by bet365Whatever the moment, it’s Never Ordinary at bet365.Download the app & use promo code: NATIONhttp://www.bet365.ca/Wilhauk Beef Jerkyhttps://www.wilhaukbeefjerky.com/
549. Oilers special teams struggles, coaching conversations, and and HBD Liam
01:10:19||Ep. 549It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' first two games against the Anaheim Ducks, what needs to change in Game 3, line combinations, injury updates, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about how concerned everyone is about the Oilers' inconsistent play through the first two games of the series. While there have absolutely been moments where the team looked solid, the moments where Edmonton's play has dipped have been brutal. It's those lulls when the Oilers' play falters that have been the biggest problems the team has so far. Shifting gears, the boys took a few minutes to talk about the dude who threw the chicken/duck on the ice during the third period, and how it was one of the dumbest decisions anyone could have made. Not only was it dumb to throw something on the ice during the play, but doing it at a moment when the Oilers were buzzing was basically unforgivable. From there, the boys looked at the special teams disaster through the first two games and what the team can do to try to remedy that problem. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots, betting talk for our friends at bet365, and Hot and Cold Performers to look back on the week that was. 548. Oilers take Game 1, Jason Dickinson shines, and losing Adam Henrique
01:00:56||Ep. 548It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' Game 1 win over the Anaheim Ducks, Jason Dickinson's brilliant playoff opener, and more.We kicked off the Tuesday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about whether the Ducks can hang with the Oilers after the visitors dominated the second period. While the Oilers had a fantastic start to the game, they really took their foot off the gas in the middle frame and nearly allowed the Ducks to steal one. While no one wanted to disrespect Anaheim, the boys thought the Oilers showed why their experience matters. Shifting gears, the boys dug into the details from last night's game, and how it was almost a tale of three games, depending on which period you're talking about. Starting with Edmonton's power play struggles, it was strange to see the boys struggle as mightily as they did with the full group back together. The good news is they'll likely be better than in Game 1. The guys also discussed Anaheim's settling into a hybrid trap system that wasn't really what they were doing for most of the season. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with a look at a run of different stories, including Adam Henrique going down in the first period, and what that means for the lineup going forward. The boys also looked around the NHL at the other playoff series and picked out some of the biggest storylines through the first few games.Whether it's some of the upsets in Game 1, likelihood of rebounding, or anything in between, there was a lot to discuss on the Tuesday episode of ONR. 🤝 SPONSORS🙌 Powered by bet365Whatever the moment, it’s Never Ordinary at bet365.Download the app & use promo code: NATIONhttp://www.bet365.ca/🥙 Swiss Donairhttps://swissdonair.com/
