The big news coming out from the Edmonton Oilers this past week was Ryan McLeod agreeing to a 2 year contract extension for an AAV of $2.1 million. That wasn't all though, as the Oilers also hired Jeff Jackson as the CEO of Hockey Operation for the team. Have thoughts on both of the deals?     The Edmonton Oilers came into Dallas and stole Game 1 last night thanks to a double overtime winner from Connor McDavid. The Oilers did hold a 2-0 lead in the second period thanks to goals from Leon Draisaitl and Zach Hyman; however, a couple of fortunate bounces from that fell to Tyler Seguin allowed the Stars to tie the game up. Nevertheless, Edmonton found a way to go up 1-0 in the Western Conference Finals. Along with the McDavid winner, there were plenty of storylines from last night. Stuart Skinner was fantastic between the pipes with a 0.939 save percentage, which was arguably his best game of the playoffs. Additionally, the penalty kill was perfect with huge contributions from the bottom six.     The Edmonton Oilers are back in the Western Conference Finals for the second time in the past three years. They're down in the Lone Star state, Texas, to go head-to-head with the Dallas Stars. The Stars and Oilers haven't met in the postseason since 2003 when Dallas advanced. They've met eight times in the postseason throughout there history with the Stars winning six of them.Game 1 gets underway tonight at the American Airlines Centre. The Oilers aren't expecting to make any lineup changes after beating the Vancouver Canucks in game 7. On the other side, Dallas are without Roope Hintz, who hasn't played since game 4 of the second round versus the Colorado Avalanche. Unfortunately, the series has gone more in favour of the Stars/North Stars than the Oilers with six wins out of eight wins going to the opposition.     The Edmonton Oilers advanced to the Western Conference Final last night after defeating the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 in game 7. It is the second time in three years the Oilers have advanced to the final four with there last coming in 2022 when they lost to the Colorado Avalanche. Last night, the Oilers didn't make it easy on themselves, despite having a 3-0 lead with less than 10 minutes to play. Cody Ceci, Zach Hyman and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins gave the Oilers what was thought to be a comfortable lead; however, a turnover from Ryan McLeod lead to a Conor Garland goal. Then shortly after, Filip Hronek brought the Canucks within one. Fortunately, Edmonton was able to hang on to move on and face the Dallas Stars.What did you think of last nights game? The last time Edmonton was in a game 7 they beat the Los Angeles Kings 2-0 in 2022. As for the Canucks, it was in Edmonton in the bubble versus the Vegas Golden Knights when they lost 3-0.Before talking about tonight, Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will dive into what happened in game 6. The Oilers showed up in a big way with Dylan Holloway setting the tone with a fantastic goal in the first period.     The Edmonton Oilers fell 3-2 to the Vancouver Canucks last night after JT Miller scored with less than a minute to play in the third period. It is now the second time in this series that the Oilers have held a two or more goal lead and lost the game. Evander Kane and Mattias Janmark scored the two goals for the Oilers; however, a lack of scoring from the stars on the powerplay prevented the Oilers from taking the series lead. Calvin Pickard played outstanding between the pipes stopping 32 of the 35 shots he faced. Game 6 is this Saturday in what is now an unexpected elimination game for the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers lead for the majority of the game with goals Leon Draisaitl and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. The Vancouver Canucks continued to push until the end with two third period goals from Conor Garland and Dakota Joshua. When the game seemed bound for overtime, Evan Bouchard restored the Oilers lead giving the home team the lead with less than 40 seconds to play.Calvin Pickard played a huge role in yesterday's victory too.
