  • 725. OFF AIR... EXTRA

    14:55||Ep. 725
    Welcome to a Friday special. Today, we bring you an interview with former prisoner Richard. Our prisons are full. Our reoffending rates are some of the worst in the western world. Self harm and suicide are rising across the prison estate. The early release of prisoners whose offences still terrify their victims is front page news - what is going right in our jails? It's a complicated problem to solve - and you may not think that yoga fits into the puzzle. But it can do. The Prison Phoenix trust is a charity that provides yoga and meditation on the prison estate - as well as mentoring schemes where prisoners are put in touch with people to write to on the outside. The aim is to help rehabilitate prisoners so they don't go back inside - and to help in a transition from life in jail.  Richard has benefitted from the programmes offered by The Prison Phoenix Trust.
