• Consider the list of the names of Jacob’s sons and their meanings. What connections do you see in the progression of names/meanings that parallel our own gospel story? What about the struggles and meaning behind the names resonates with you in your own life with Christ?

• As we read of Rachel taking the household idols with her, consider some of the "household gods" we insist on holding onto in our own lives. What elements of the world do we tend to have a hard time letting go of?
