Hajar J. Woodland: The Long Voice Note
Baby loss with Jules Kelly
This episode deals with baby loss and grief.
My beautiful friend Jules Kelly talks openly about losing her daughter Chloe. Jules asked me to release this episode to time with Baby Loss Awareness Week (9th-15th October), in the hope that it will help raise awareness of the issues surrounding baby loss, and even provide some form of comfort and healing to bereaved parents, or those trying to support friends and family.
In this episode, Jules talks about her inspirational friend Charlotte, who's currently raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity. Charlotte and her husband Alan have already raised over £20,000. You can support their fundraising efforts in their daughter Margot's memory here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/margot-bennett
Please be aware that this episode goes into detail about medical issues and stillbirth, and Jules talks extremely honestly about the days leading up to Chloe's birth, so please take care while listening.
All my love to Jules and Ed xxx

3. Stream of consciousness
22:02||Season 2, Ep. 3A little rambling about Iran, hiphop classes and being on Channel 4's new show, Secret Genius with Alan Carr and Susie Dent! I started a thought about 'performed intelligence' and didn't finish it - the point was I think school encourages us to work for grades to show that we're clever, rather than follow our curiosity and push our brains for own own sakes. Anyway, sorry for the long voice note.
2. I broke up with ChatGPT
29:52||Season 2, Ep. 2Adults talking about their terrible sleep is boring, but I think there's a story in here to amuse you. Plus, I talk a bit about why I've broken up with ChatGPT and I share some - again, very personal - writing from a while ago about when your soul is crying out for connection.
1. Hey friend!
27:24||Season 2, Ep. 1I woke up really wanting to restart my podcast... Briefly covering: the jokes we make in relationships; this year's dating life; meeting Simon Squibb.
15. Reflecting on the past year with Jules Kelly
02:13:25||Season 1, Ep. 15I'm back podcasting and I'm back talking with Jules Kelly, who recorded an episode with me last year about losing her daughter Chloe. A year on, in Baby Loss Awareness Week, Jules reflects on the past year, which has, tragically, been filled with further unimaginable grief and loss. But this episode is, strangely, filled with laughter and very dark humour - while some might find it a welcome break from traditional discussions about grief, others might find it a difficult, so please handle yourself with care. This episode contains references to baby loss and suicide. All my love to Jules and Ed xxx
14. Gambling and headscarves
38:35||Season 1, Ep. 14I decided to actually share some of my old bits of writing - including a disjointed monologue on gambling in a casino at 4pm, and my life in headscarves!
13. Why the Wembley Arena sucks
01:01:31||Season 1, Ep. 13To make sure I got the podcast done this week, Curtis decided to join me to chat about our weeks, why the Wembley Arena is not suited to comedy, and whether or not we'll ever get off our phones.
12. A Fool's Philosopher
42:03||Season 1, Ep. 12This week I talk you through my weekend's activities of bowling, aqua aerobics and two singing gigs and I start looking up philosophers. Deep stuff.
11. Talking for therapy
36:09||Season 1, Ep. 11I've taken a break for work and surgery and my predictable lack of discipline, but I'm back and today I talk a little bit about energy psychotherapy and getting out of a survival mindset!
10. Another check-in
21:26||Season 1, Ep. 10I'm tired, and didn't have time to properly edit this week's episode, so I'm pushing that back to Wednesday 23rd November (podcasts will switch to Wednesdays), and in the meantime I'm just pondering things again.Book tickets to my WIP at the Hen & Chickens in Islington - Monday 21st November 7:30pm!
