TOP 5 SONGS ABOUT ENDINGS ft. Tebi Rex
...and there will be NO ENCORE.
As Tebi Rex comes to an end, we are delighted to welcome Max Zanga and Matt Ó Baoill to the NO ENCORE studio; a studio in which they recorded their 2019 debut album The Young Will Eat The Old.
Their forthcoming third and final album Fin. will be the final chapter in the Tebi Rex discography, and as such they're here to talk Dave Hanratty and Sonic Architect Adam Shanahan through the top songs on the topic and tell us how they feel about endings.
Over on the NO ENCORE Patreon this week, Adam puts his music industry hat back on for a two-hour bonus podcast on the current feelings on the Irish music industry from three people on the ground in the first of what will likely be a mini Patreon series. Rachel Mae Hannon of District Magazine, independent recording artist Melina Malone and founder of Golden Éire Records Odhran O'Brien join Adam for the first edition, available now.
This coming Monday, Dave & Andy McCarroll return to familiar territory to choose their fighters in the first 'versus' edition of the NO ENCORE Film Club. It's Street Fighter VS Mortal Kombat, so expect to hear the two film experts test their might on this one.
Onwards, however, to this week's agenda...
ACT ONE: Tebi Rex tell us about Fin. and reflect on their discography, musical journey and more.
ACT TWO (33:02): Snoop Dogg biopic on the cards, and he speaks about investing in Celtic FC (but not in the way you might expect), Scooter Braun tells us about his guilt, Ed Sheeran culturally identifies as Irish and misinformed Miley Cyrus fans get a bit irritable– it's the news.
ACT THREE (55:51): Top 5 Songs About Endings

498. TOP 5 NEO SOUL ft. Melina Malone
01:47:23||Ep. 498Unfortunately our faithful host Dave Hanratty is unwell this week so Sonic Architect Adam Shanahan flys the plane solo for his first jaunt on the podcast-proper alone, but luckily he's joined by his close musical collaborator, soul artist Melina Malone to guide him. As well as her counsel, Melina will be providing a key to open the door for us to the neo soul genre, it's characteristics, its heavy-hitters and some of her favourite selections for her Top 5.As always, the fun never stops on the NO ENCORE Patreon – Dave and Andy's recent Film Club adventures saw Andy snared in a web of exasperation as they discussed Trap, which is available now, and next week Adam will be taking a look at another Danish band for his upcoming Album Club as he examines Spleen United's Neanderthal all the way back from the turn of the financial crisis. As little as €5 per month gets you full bonus and ad-free access and there's a sweet 10% discount if you sign up for an annual membership. We roll on!ACT ONE: The preamble, in which Adam attempts desperately to do a good job in Dave's absence.ACT TWO (15:34): Trevor Dietz RIP, Primavera's Thursday washout, more Ozzy avatar chat, Russian Angine de Poitrine impostors spotted, Duffy's triumphant and imminent return to the stage, Daft Punk definitely not reuniting and Prince's famous and mysterious vault is finally being cracked open – it's the news.ACT THREE (49:19): Top 5 Neo Soul.

01:55:03||Ep. 496We envision that many of you enjoy this podcast on a Friday or Saturday morning each week with a cup of their favourite hot, caffeinated beverage in hand to enjoy during your listen, so this week's guest fits the bill perfectly!Colin Harmon, the head honcho and founder of Irish speciality coffee giant 3fe Coffee and four-time Irish Barista Champion joins Dave and Adam in studio and brings with him a line-up of coffee songs that are sure to put a pep in your step. And speaking of pep, our latest Film Club episode is live now on the NO ENCORE Patreon and boy oh boy is Andy McCarroll animated in this one – it's Fall from 2022 and Andy *certainly* feels some type of way about it, meanwhile Dave fell for its charm. Also, we get to hear the story of Andy getting grounded during his flying lesson, worth the sign-up fee alone if you ask me.Ahead, Adam returns to Album Club corner, and is very much keeping the SPOT Festival experience live by taking a deep-dive into Swash's debut album Powers of Ten released in April this year.
