NO ENCORE
TOP 5 GLASTONBURY PERFORMANCES ft. Pierce Callaghan
As the drummer for the excellent Gurriers, Pierce Callaghan is a very busy man of late, and so Dave Hanratty and Sonic Architect Adam Shanahan are only delighted to welcome him to the NO ENCORE studio mere hours before he jets off to Glastonbury.
The imminent Worthy Farm spectacular is this week's headline attraction, given Pierce's affinity for it - he's a veteran as a punter - and upcoming activity at it - Gurriers play two sets this weekend, don't dare miss them if you're there.
And so he takes us through his five favourite standout performances from years gone by. That, of course, is very much not at all this week, as you'll see below.
Before that, do consider jumping aboard the good ship NO ENCORE Patreon - €5 per month gets you ad-free early access to the main show, and a weekly bonus episode.
Adam's second instalment of the current state of the Irish music industry is up right now, and the Film Club returns this Monday as Dave and Andy McCarroll run the rule over David Fincher / Michael Fassbender hitman satire The Killer. Sign up today!
ACT ONE: The preamble in which we ramble.
ACT TWO (14:31): Adam finally straps in for F1: The Movie (aka CAR), UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer says it's "not appropriate" for Kneecap to play Glastonbury, Slane supremo Lord Henry Mountcharles departs this mortal coil, Rick Rubin thinks AI is the new punk rock, and some other bits in brief - it's the news.
ACT THREE (1:09:32): Top 5 Glastonbury Performances.

513. TOP 5 EASTER EGGS ft. Kieran McGuinness
02:15:56||Ep. 513No, not the delicious chocolate ones but rather the mysterious / clever / pointless / pretentious / delete-as-appropriate hidden messages, inside jokes and secret surprises buried beneath the surface of your favourite pop song or concept album. Kieran McGuinness of Driven Snow and Delorentos is the creative curator of this week's Top 5 - he managed to mesmerise Dave and Adam in real-time, so pay close attention! Elsewhere this week, the boys wade back into the troubled waters of Edward Christopher Sheeran, and delve into the new Driven Snow record Mother of Christ.Don't miss out on our weekly bonus episodes at patreon.com/noencore - it's a two-for-one special in the coming days as the Film Club returns with sweaty Russell Crowe vehicle Unhinged, while Dave readies an entire month's worth of horror movies for your terrifying pleasure. As for your main NO ENCORE fix right here... ACT ONE: Le Preamble. ACT TWO (12:20): The continued fallout from the Ed Sheeran Loop Tour fiasco takes the lion's share of this week's news round-up as the guys assess the tearful troubadour's onstage address. There's also time for a cultural new government initiative and the long-awaited union between Billy Corgan and the utterly vile excuse for a human being that is Clavicular. ACT THREE (57:41): From shrewd marketing techniques to tender and inventive songwriting, Kieran talks all things Driven Snow. ACT FOUR (1:31:21): Top 5 Easter Eggs.

512. TOP 5 HATED BEATLES SONGS ft. Gilla Band
02:01:22||Ep. 512Dave returns to rock the microphone following two weeks of rest and relaxation, and wouldn't you know it, there's quite a lot to talk about. First and foremost, the boys are delighted to welcome Dara Kiely and Daniel Fox of the glorious Gilla Band back to the show ahead of the release of their beautifully pulsating fourth record Pugnello, which lands next Friday. We'll talk about all that and their highly Dave-approved Top 5, but first up... ACT ONE: Dave and Adam report back from a sparsely-attended yet nonetheless memorable WU LYF gig.ACT TWO (12:47): The fallout of the Ed Sheeran / Macklemore row dominates the news section, while there's also time for Oasis and their forthcoming expensive Irish return, Geese and those pesky psy-op allegations, and deeply improper use of an innocent Ferris wheel. ACT THREE (49:26): Gilla Band in conversation. ACT FOUR (1:28:58): Top 5 Hated Beatles Songs.
