371: TOP 5 SONGS THAT AGED BADLY ft. Kieran McGuinness

Ep. 371

It's the post-quiz return to normality and business is... busy.

Dave Hanratty is joined by Kieran McGuinness of Delorentos fame to discuss new project Driven Snow, in which Kieran has teamed up with his wife; former Republic of Loose member Emily Aylmer.

Kieran shines some light on the musical union before he and Dave get into some notable news stories from the world and then, with some considerable squirming, present their shouts for the most obvious candidates for music that has aged like milk left out in the sun.

ACT ONE: Dave went to see Pet Shop Boys, which somehow leads him to review a different gig from 12 years ago. Kieran. meanwhile, brings us into the world of Driven Snow.

ACT TWO (19:44): News! Dave Fanning apologises for his comments about the late Christy Dignam, Noel Gallagher berates the reasonable expectations of concert-goers, and Trent Reznor gets emotional about the pop mastery of Dua Lipa.

ACT THREE (52:38): Top 5 Songs That Aged Badly.

  • 433. TOP 5 STATE OF THE NATION* ADDRESSES ft. Mark Conroy

    01:58:35||Ep. 433
    *And the nation in question is the good 'ol US of A. As you've no doubt noticed by now, Donald John Trump is the President-elect of the United States of America. Cast aside the numerous valid and alarming reasons for this scenario not to come to pass, for it is indeed a reality once again. If you're feeling uneasy, well, you're not alone. And so NO ENCORE has no real choice but to get a bit political this week as the returning Mark Conroy takes us through his hand-picked audio that best sums up the current state of Stateside affairs right now. There's also a news section that thankfully is considerably less political, and some major personal updates, too. Enjoy? ACT ONE: Dave went to see Max Richter in concert, then later wound up in hospital. The two events are unconnected, he thinks. Meanwhile, Adam joins the fourth estate!ACT TWO (25:25): A busy news section features the passing of legendary producer and notable quotable Quincy Jones, Robert Smith's commitment to the goth lifestyle, Charli XCX's literary triumph, Olivia Rodrigo's dating advice, the rise of entertainment-focused 'cigfluencers', and awkward onstage happenings involving Morrissey and Thom Yorke. ACT THREE (1:02:20): Top 5 State of the Nation Addresses.
