Action Surge Episode 44

Season 1, Ep. 44
•

An interesting episode of Action Surge this week. Mark at Crafted Campaigns made pretty much everyone hot, and once we recovered from the bi-panic he managed to induce, we had plenty to discuss.

We start by talking about how this might not have been a deadly encounter, but that did not mean we could afford to take too many hits. And this time, I (the character, not the me) did not shrink away! We are still not sure if it was Alex or I, but someone woke up feeling ready for a fight, and ready to break the old hide-shoot-hide-shoot rhythm of a classic rogue.

We also had minis. Yes, we know some people have been itching for action, and in this episode, we had more incredible minis from Mark at Crafted Campaigns. Harry also talks about the limits of his improv, which incidentally seems to be playing someone universally agreed to be incredibly fit. Also, he was apparently going to leave a note in someone’s bag. Do not be a coward, Harry.

We discuss Spare the Dying and how that might have saved Torrian. We also talk about how Harry previously establishing death saves for certain characters might have helped him live to see another day. Either way, if we are trying to keep Elowen from spiralling, then killing her family is not exactly helpful. After all, who does she fight for if not her family? We also break down more information about her brothers and Elowen’s relationship with each of them.

Look, rules are hard, and the application of rules is even harder. We love trying new things at the table, but sometimes, no matter how many times you read something, it is not until you try to use it that you realise how tricky it can be. Lucky for us, all of that is captured on camera. Are we flawless? Absolutely not. But we’re learning as we go, and not being scared to share it is part of our journey too. We will try again next time.

We also talk about supporting each other and supporting our characters. How the DM chooses to pass that information along, how exciting it is to arrive in a new city, and what we might expect when we get there.

Winter sports in Reliquiae? Yes, we discuss those too.

    Alex fails his dexterity saving throw and the everyone immediately starts making penis jokes. This is starting to become a bit too normal around here. This action surge unpacks a lot of the, rather ridiculous behaviour, that the party engaged in whilst letting their hair down and getting their feet wet.Having reached the end of an arc, there’s a lot of reflecting and considerations for what comes next.Gnomes anyone? Harry digs into some of his thoughts and processes for introducing a gnome city into the narrative. And what about all the new lore we’ve picked up? What does it tell us about the gods? The totems? The very world itself? Whatever the answers, we all need to talk about the new cuddly party member!---Support us on Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/naturalsixJoin our Discord! https://discord.gg/HNV56DADnJFollow us on Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/naturalsixFollow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/natural_six

    With the dust beginning the settle and a new dawn on the horizon, the scales begin to tip in a new direction. Blood is thicker than water but what of gold?Time will tell. A thick canopy of bark and branch might obscure the way for some.For others it creates a path clearer than any road. Perhaps we all end up exactly where we’re mean to be. And what of rest? When waters boil and steam rises, do you let yourself soak in the stillness or prepare yourself for what awaits in the cold?---Support us on Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/naturalsixJoin our Discord! https://discord.gg/HNV56DADnJFollow us on Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/naturalsixFollow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/natural_six

    02:55:22||Season 1, Ep. 63
    To achieve our dreams and indulge in our fantasies, there must always be a sacrifice. Sometimes the sacrifice is small and easily made. Other times it requires a heavy toll and blood must be spilled.Is death enough to atone for ones crimes? What of those who come after. The ones who are forced to clean up your mess and pick up the pieces. What will it take to wash the blood from their hands.And now footsteps weigh heavy on a dying land. After two sessions of non stop combat, it’s time to take a breather and unpack everything that’s happened.Harry, Ben and Alex dig into the emotional and mechanical depths of combat...by comparing it to football. Obviously.Harry unleashes a 60ft cone of combat mechanics upon the party, discussing breath weapons, spell slots, DOMF, and vials of super secret wasp juice. This combat had it all, baby.Even when Harry dashes off, everyone somehow stays on task and keeps talking about the battle. It’s almost scary how little nonsense and mischief they get up to. Is Ben ok????Finally, to wrap up all this serious D&D conversation, Aoife and Doug reckon with their joint ‘healer’ roles within the party, while Ben recalls an annoying fan.
