At only 14 years old, Kheris Rogers is determined to change the way that young people think about their own beauty. Today, Kheris might just be the coolest teenager on the internet and we all have something to learn from her. From mental health, to building an empire, to (of course) beauty products, there’s a lot packed in this minisode! Enjoy!

Sometimes Skincare is Rocket Science ft. Desiree Stordahl of Paula’s Choice [Rerun]
01:04:38|We're revisiting one of our favorite episodes this week. As the Senior Research & Education Manager at Paula’s Choice, Desiree Stordahl believes that skincare is nothing without the ingredients that define it. After growing up with a harsh-is-better approach to acne, Storedahl decided to abandon the SeaBreeze pads and take on a more thoughtful approach to beauty. She picked up a copy of Paula Begoun’s Beauty Bible, and the rest is history! Today, Storedahl not only understands her own skin, but is able to help so many others through her extensive dermatological research. Tune in for an extremely informative discussion on up-and-coming skincare ingredients, hormonal acne, and breaking into the beauty industry!Links to Products/Resources Mentioned:SKINCARE: 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant, Paula’s Choice Articles, Peptide Booster , Niacinamide 20%, Beautypedia.com, The Beauty Bible, BHA 9, Lip & Body Balm, COSRX Pimple Patches, Babe Lash Growth Serum,MAKEUP: M.A.C Studio Waterweight SPF 30 Foundation, Kosas Cream Blush Duo, Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint, Thrive Cosmetics Liquid Lash ExtensionsJoin the Naked Beauty Community on IG: @nakedbeautyplanetRate, Subscribe & Review the Podcast on AppleTag me while you’re listening @nakedbeautyplanet & as always love to hear your thoughts :)Follow Desiree: @desireestordahlStay in touch with me: @brookedevardCultivating Style and Career Wisdom with Nikki Ogunnaike

34:17|During a conversation at The Reparations Club, I spoke to Victoria Monét about her debut children’s book, motherhood, and chasing her dreams. Victoria discussed the difficult moments of separation that inspired “Everywhere You Are.” From her daughter's stay in the NICU to her first day of school, Victoria realized there wasn't a market for explaining similar periods of distance to children. She drew on her incredible songwriting ability and childhood memories of living in a starlit neighborhood to write the book she and her daughter needed. The pair collaborated on this project, much like their Grammy nominated “Hollywood.”Victoria explained how she ensures that her daughter feels loved despite her busy schedule. She shared their routine with us, which includes listening to calming frequencies and learning positive affirmations. Hazel has repeated these affirmations outside of Victoria’s presence, so she is confident that these reminders are taking root. Our discussion revealed Victoria's deep commitment to fostering Hazel’s sense of independence. She hopes that by communicating the importance of traveling to chase her dreams, Hazel will be inspired to chase hers with confidence.Tune in as we discuss:How she prepares Hazel before she is away on tourWhy chasing her dreams is good for her and her family Tips for dealing with mom guiltHow her career aspirations changed with motherhoodThe wellness habits that help her unwind when she’s homePurchase Victoria's book from Reparations ClubRate, Subscribe & Review the Podcast on Apple Join the Naked Beauty Community on IG: @nakedbeautyplanet Thanks for all the love and support. 57:03|What makes Vanessa Lee one of the most sought-after medical aesthetics practitioners is her commitment to teaching and learning about all things beauty and science. During our conversation, Vanessa details her hands-on experience learning from beauty practitioners in Korea, including standing in for a model and receiving a treatment during a demonstration. Before her foray into the world of natural beauty aesthetics, Vanessa grew up bonding with her peers over beauty and skincare. Bonding over beauty carried into her professional life as she blended art and science to help her patients meet their beauty goals, while always looking like themselves. We regularly see her seamless work on our screens and feel her impact without knowing. In 2017, Vanessa coined the phrase “facial balancing” and began providing her clients the now wildly popular services before the rest of the public caught up. She teaches Beauty Theory courses to other professionals to help prevent cookie-cutter treatments that don’t complement all face shapes. Our discussion is a mini-Beauty Theory course because Vanessa teaches us about procedures, her practice, and global industry norms. We learn about how facial shapes can determine how our skin will age, why K-Beauty is always light years ahead of the U.S., and how she supports clients in need of therapeutic support.Tune in as we discuss:Whether or not people should have micro-cosmetic treatments done or wait for a facelift in the futureThe best laser treatments for melasma and hyperpigmentation on dark skin and what they costAdvice on traveling to Korea for cosmetic procedures, including what Vanessa spent on her most recent tripRate, Subscribe & Review the Podcast on Apple Join the Naked Beauty Community on IG: @nakedbeautyplanet Thanks for all the love and support. 36:50|Before Ron Robinson became social media’s favorite cosmetic chemist, he had already built a varied career in beauty. In 1989, he was hired on the spot to formulate and develop products for Clinique and La Mer, under Estée Lauder. He formulated new SKUs and innovated products like Clinique’s Turn Around Cream, which was one of the first products to use salicylic acid as a topical treatment gel. Despite his obvious aptitude for beauty science, he was on track to become a doctor like his brothers. To his parents' dismay, he dropped out of medical school but quickly found his footing in some of the most successful beauty labs. This experience is precisely why Hailey Bieber asked him to help lead RHODE, the billion-dollar brand, to success. His experience in the lab and engaging with consumers 1-1 also informed his decision to launch Beauty STAT. Ron holds a rare position as CEO, founder, and cosmetic chemist in Beauty STAT, and he’s excited to continue innovating for a more knowledgeable consumer base.Tune in as we discuss:Tips on how to determine if luxury products are worth itHow he approaches developing products for melanated skinRecommendations on topical treatments for fine lines, wrinkles, and dark circlesWhy owning your beauty technologies is a big dealHow he is interested in taking on the 50+ beauty consumer marketRate, Subscribe & Review the Podcast on Apple Join the Naked Beauty Community on IG: @nakedbeautyplanet Thanks for all the love and support.
