Ep. 116 - John O’Farrell
John O’Farrell is an author and comedy script writer. He was a writer for such shows as Spitting Image, Grumpy Old Men and Have I Got News For You. He co-wrote the Aardman animation film Early Man with Nick Park and wrote for the film Chicken Run. He wrote the book for the Broadway musical Something Rotten which was nominated for 10 Tony Awards including a “Best Book” nomination for John. He’s written numerous books including Things Can Only Get Better, An Utterly Impartial History of Britain and The Man Who Forgot His Wife and has sold over 1 Million books in the UK alone. 52:34|Will Eaves is a British writer, poet and professor at the University of Warwick. He began writing for the Times Literary Supplement in 1992 and joined the paper as its Arts Editor in 1995. He left in 2011 to become an Associate Professor in the Writing Programme at the University of Warwick. In 2020, he judged the Goldsmiths Prize and was a Visiting Research Fellow at Merton College, Oxford. In 2016, he was a Sassoon Visiting Fellow at the Bodleian Library. He has written five novels, two books of poetry, and one volume of literary essays. For for book Murmur, Eaves was shortlisted for the Goldsmiths Prize and won the Wellcome Book Prize. He has given talks, seminars and readings around the world and has appeared several times on BBC Radio 3’s The Verb, with Ian Macmillan, and on BBC Radio 4’s Start the Week and Open Book. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. His book The Point of Distraction is out now and you can preorder Invasion of the Polyhedrons any time. His daily 10am-1pm slot has amassed 1.2 million weekly listeners, and when Chris Moyles is on holiday, Toby steps in and is let loose on the Radio X Breakfast Show, as well as doing the same for Johnny Vaughn on drive-time. Since making his television debut on Harry Hill’s Clubnite (Channel 4), Chris has become a regular on television and radio. He’s appeared in shows such as the BAFTA-winning Alma’s Not Normal (BBC 2), Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared (Channel 4) and Avoidance (BBC One). He’s also written for the likes of Dave, Channel 4, BBC Radio 2, Cbeebies and CBBC. As half of the acclaimed double act The Delightful Sausage with Amy Gledhill, Chris has been twice nominated for the ‘Best Show’ award at the Edinburgh Festival (2019 and 2022). Chris and Amy have appeared on shows such as Question Team (Dave), Pointless (BBC One), and as series regulars for Late Night Mash (Dave).
