My Kind of River

Next up, it’s the brilliant artist Jason Sweeney, who works with stainless steel to create incredible fish and wildlife sculptures. He cut his teeth fishing on industry-stained canals in Lancashire four decades ago, catching pike, perch, bream and, on one occasion, a dog. He now lives in the Scottish Borders, just a few miles from the Tweed, a river he has come to know and love.

This week’s guest is Lana Richardson, who has fishing on the brain 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And has done since she was a toddler, catching salmon while most of us were still learning how to crawl!

It’s the turn of Roger Brookes, an incredible artist who has carved more than 400 wooden fish in the past 30 years, of all shapes and sizes. Roger talks about his work and looks back over his fishing life to design his kind of river. Which includes fishing in shark-infested waters…
