His most recent film about the battle over the Mississippi state flag, Look Away, Look Away, won the 2022 Erik Barnouw Award for outstanding documentary dealing with American History from the Organization of American Historians. It was also the Audience Choice Awards for Best Film and Best Documentary at the 2021 Oxford Film Festival. This past June, he received a Special Achievement Award from the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters for his work on Look Away, Look Away.
