    In this summer's "The Best of MBM" series we replay our episode from January 2024 about psychedelic assisted therapy and a groundbreaking clinical trial of the use of psilocybin for cancer patients at the Sunstone Therapies Clinic in Maryland. Guest and clinical trial participant, Alice Grasset was a client of therapist Dr. Brian Richards. Brian and his father Dr. Bill Richards are featured in a recent Netflix show, How to Change Your Mind hosted by Michael Pollan. Bill Richards was a pioneer in the research of the use of psychedelics in health care from 1967 to 1977.Alice describes her psilocybin experience, the dissolution of the ego and the realization that she is part of something larger. Alice left the corporate world and launched the Sparkles of Grace program for breast cancer survivors that utilizes yoga, meditation, and coaching.After the interview MindBody Matters co-hosts Greg Rennie and Rob Wreford discuss how they are now convinced that the use of psychedelics can help people struggling with a cancer diagnosis, depression and PTSD. We interviewed Drew Bankey from “Sacred Journeys Within”, an ayahuasca ceremony he leads in Colorado. Drew shares his experience in the military and the impact of two tours in the Iraq war had on his life as it resulted in PTSD, suicidality and loss of purpose until he met Ayahuasca. Steve was diagnosed with alcoholism, drug addiction and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder at a time that trauma from war was just being studied and understood.     In this summer's "Best of MBM" series, we replay our eye-opening episode from August 2023 about big pharma in which we discuss the Netflix series "Painkiller," which shed light on the unethical marketing practices of Purdue Pharma, makers of OxyContin. Greg interviews Dr. Robert Shepherd, a Psychologist who witnessed firsthand the influence of big pharma companies like Purdue Pharma and Pfizer, makers of Celebrex had on doctors as he was wined and dined by pharmaceutical companies but saw the danger early in the opioid crisis and spoke out against it. Greg and Dr. Shepherd explore the ways in which big pharma incentivize doctors to prescribe their drugs plying them with perks, lavish dinners and paid speaking opportunities.
