Ballina man trying to secure safe flights home for his Ukranian wife

As the world watches Russia's invasion of Ukraine, one Ballina man is trying to book airline tickets to secure his wife's safe journey home from the embattled country.
There are reports of explosions and shelling in several cities in Ukraine, with regional authorities saying a number of people have died.
Footage shows explosions in major cities, and civilians fleeing the capital Kyiv.
While commercial flights into and out of Ukraine have now been suspended, Liam Heffron in Ballina is anxiously awaiting the safe return of his wife Kate who had been visiting her father in Ukraine in recent weeks.
Speaking with Midwest News, Liam gave his reaction to the news overnight that Russia had invaded Ukraine
