Welcome to Middle Ground Books: After Hours. We’re Lance, Megan, and Debra, and after a long day at our bookstore in Emporia, Kansas, this is where we kick back, grab a few drinks, and talk about everything from books and life to the wild corners of the Nerdosphere. Every topic is fair game and every drink is welcome. We try to keep things family friendly if the drinks allow it. This is our space to unwind, laugh, and connect with each other and the community we love.

Hey there, I’m Lance! I’ve acquired an encyclopedia’s worth of experiences over the years, and nonfiction books are my cup of tea. If you’ve got an esoteric, weird, or off-the-wall interest, don’t be surprised if I’ve already heard of it or dabbled in it myself — and don’t be too shocked when I can recommend a book about it, too.

Megan Love

Hi, I’m Megan! I’ve been a professional bookworm for over a decade, or in layman’s terms a librarian. These days I’m just as enthusiastic about selling books as I am about reading them. I have a genuine passion for helping fellow book lovers discover a book that radiates with their interests and personalities.

Debra Rundus

Hello, I’m Debra. By day I’m a preschool teacher, and by night I’m surrounded by storybooks, coffee mugs, and laughter. I have a heart for young families and love helping parents find books that bring them closer together. Those moments when little ones crawl into your lap, giggle, and get lost in a story are the ones I hope every family makes time for. I’m always happy to help you find the perfect story to share at home.
