  • 8. Episode 8 - Home *is* where the heart is... but how do I afford one!?

    44:58||Season 1, Ep. 8
    It’s the Australian dream, right? A spouse or partner, two kids, a house in the ‘burbs with a yard, with prawns cooking on the barbie. Maybe that idyllic picture isn’t for everyone, but for those who do want it -  prices are pushing the property dream further and further out of reach. Plenty of young Aussies are looking at their bank balances, and thinking, 'How am I ever going to scrape together a deposit without a second income to cushion the blow?'In this episode, Zoe and Carmel look at the challenges in place to buy a house, whether you’re single or loved up. They hear from our wider community about their experiences buying their first house, talk about their different perspectives, before interviewing John Fisher, who runs a Mortgage Broking Business in Sydney. He talks about the options available to you, the things to be aware of when accepting monetary gifts for homes, and the other hidden costs you need to be aware of when preparing to buy your first home. Don't forget to follow us on insta for memes and details between the episodes.*If this has brought up any concerns or triggered any personal feelings for you, always seek help.We recommend: Lifeline on 13 11 14QLife (LGBTQIA Specific) on 1800 184 527Beyondblue on 1300 224 63*Any views expressed by the podcast host or any guest are their own and do not represent the views of Equity Mates Media or any other employer or associated organisation.Always remember, all information contained in this podcast is for education and entertainment purposes only. We address dating apps, types of lovers out there and the awkwardness about how do you decide who pays on the first date and how do men and women view this differently? Carmel and Zoe also talk to two single friends who are out there, in the single market - Dave, and their friend Georgia of the Sh*t Dates podcast. Both give their perspectives on the different aspects of dating! *Don't forget to follow us on insta for memes and details between the episode.*If this has brought up any concerns or triggered any personal feelings for you, always seek help.We recommend: Lifeline on 13 11 14QLife (LGBTQIA Specific) on 1800 184 527Beyondblue on 1300 224 63*Any views expressed by the podcast host or any guest are their own and do not represent the views of Equity Mates Media or any other employer or associated organisation.Always remember, all information contained in this podcast is for education and entertainment purposes only.
