How Allies of Skin turned founder Nicolas Travis’ life (and skin) around

Season 6, Ep. 1

In today’s episode of MECCA Talks, Kate is joined by Allies of Skin founder Nicolas Travis. With a degree in biomedical and pharmaceutical science, a master’s in international business and a history of severe acne and reconstructive facial surgery, Nicolas created Allies of Skin from a desire to rebuild his own confidence, and to demystify skincare, making it simple, accessible and – above all else – efficacious.

Nicolas’ unbelievably smooth, glassy skin is proof enough that the brand delivers on the words printed on each bottle (and the science-backed formulas within them) – however, if you’re searching for more, you’ll discover famous fans in the likes of Hailey Bieber, Kaia Gerber, Niall Horan, January Jones and Henry Golding.

Having launched in 2016 with just three products, Allies of Skin has reached cult status in record time – hit play to find out why.

  • Emily Weiss On Why Glossier Isn’t A Trend Brand

    29:42
In today’s episode, Kate is joined by Emily Weiss, founder of Glossier, to celebrate the launch of her cult-loved brand into Australia and New Zealand, exclusively at MECCA. After leaving a career in fashion to work full-time on her popular beauty blog, Into The Gloss, Emily saw a gap in the market for a brand that had a customer-focused, “Skin First. Makeup Second.” philosophy. It was that idea that led to the launch of Glossier in 2014, which quickly became the NYC ‘it’ brand beauty lovers globally were desperate to get their hands on. 10 years (and a lot of pink) later, the brand has amassed a cult following thanks to iconic products such as Boy Brow, Balm Dot Com and the Glossier You Fragrance. Now, Emily is in Australia, and here with us in the studio, to give us the low-down on MECCA’s most requested brand ever.Products mentioned:Glossier Balm Dotcom Lip Balm and Skin Salve in 'Birthday'Glossier Boy Brow Volumizing Eyebrow Gel-PomadeGlossier Futuredew Facial Oil-Serum HybridGlossier You Eau de ParfumGlossier Ultralip High Shine Lipstick in 'Trench'Host: Kate BlytheGuest: Emily WeissProducer: Kerri GordonProducer/Editor: Ruby DevlinLoved the latest episode of MECCA Talks?
