Man on the Radio

Paul Gibson The Peoples Playlist

Recorded over two phone-in sessions, this recording is a pilot show on Rockingham Radio under the heading 'The People's Playlist' we helped an avid listener and life-long lover of Mowtown and Northern Soul, Paul Gibson, from Sheffield, to realise his dream of having his personal selection of his favourite music played out on the radio.

Without access to the technology to create his own show, Rockingham Radio came to the rescue with the People's Playlist to enable his bucket list dream to become a reality.

With not just one or two songs, but a whole two hours-worth of music a a bit of banter thrown in, this is a great first show to be aired.

  • Coping with Covid

    03:37|
A spoken word poem looking at the pandemic from many different perspectives. As we face increasing measures and restrictions it’s likely that, for many, this latest variant will bring additional challenges, both physically and mentally, to many people.Originally written and released earlier this year as I sought to rationalise in my own mind what impact it was having after more than a year from the original lockdown.  Seeing so many conflicting views and opinions on what we had gone through I had to process it in my own way but that led me to think more about how others were reacting, coping or suffering and also I put those thoughts down and this is the end result. Inspired by Nathan Parker, I set out and recorded it as a spoken word piece. Not perfect, but then what is?
