A goofy, nerdy podcast about movies, and history, and movies in history in context.

Make Them Watch is a podcast about movies, and history, and movies in context IN history. Join hosts Lex Milana and Dan Abbott, two neurodivergent goofballs who take turns introducing the other to movies that were formative to them growing up, or occupy an interesting place in the history of film and the culture writ large. From timeless classics to trendy box office junk food, from underappreciated cultural commentary to lowbrow stinkers, Lex and Dan make each other watch them all! Have you ever talked to your bestie about the movies that formed your core memories and found one they somehow have never seen? Do movies you loved in your childhood hit a little different years later, or make no sense to a different generation? Take a white-knuckle ride down twisty rabbit holes of historical and cinematic context, as Dan, Lex and occasional guests explain how your favorite movies fit into the zeitgeist, and how they influenced other films and the culture at large. Discover hilarious and jaw-dropping facts about the people behind your favorite obscure cult films, and what they went on to do. Learn about the political, economic and cultural forces that shape, and are shaped by, the films that stick in our minds. Even the bad ones. Lex Milana is a writer, culture critic, foodie, and lover of film. Dan Abbott is a writer, performer, filmmaker, and former journalist.
