Mad, Sad and Bad with Paloma Faith
Sam Ryder: I Rarely Saw My Dad Cry
I’m joined by the man with the most extraordinary hair in the UK, which can only really mean one thing...Sam Ryder. He stole all of our hearts at the Eurovision Song contest with his hit ‘Spaceman’, as well as becoming a TikTok sensation and even landing the role of Jesus in the West End. For someone who has achieved so much, he is probably the most humble person I’ve ever met - and I’m lucky to call him a true friend after filming our show ‘Your Song’ together last year.
We covered a lot!! From why he stopped drinking alcohol, to his impressive THREE near-death experiences (protect Sam at all costs), to how we can all make the world a better place. Oh, and there was also that one time he kidnapped someone on tour - but more on that later…

David Harewood: I Was Told to Get the Fuck Out of My Own Country!
41:43|I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a little bit of a crush on this week’s guest. The VERY handsome David Harewood! He’s one of Britain’s finest actors, but what I wasn’t expecting was quite how much this conversation would move me. David speaks so openly about experiencing psychosis, being sectioned and the devastating impact that racism throughout his life has had on his mental health. I was incredibly moved by his honesty, strength and courage in sharing such difficult experiences, but also by the hope he has for a new generation of Black talent who he hopes won't have to face the same struggles. We also talk about the heartbreaking loss of his best friend Lui, the realities of being a working actor and some of the rockiest moments in his career - from his first day on Homeland to the rather bizarre time he spent half a day working as a bailiff!!And here's something I genuinely couldn't believe… David is currently starring in Channel 4's new crime drama Pierre, and it's his FIRST EVER leading role. How is that possible?!Such an honest, moving and surprisingly uplifting chat. Thank you so much, David, for joining me!CREDITSProducer: Ross WhyattAssistant Producer: Lydia BrownellVideographers: Harry SawkinsAudio Engineer: Miles WhewaySenior Social Media Manager: Laura CoughlanProduction Manager: Archan MohilleProduction Coordinator: James CoxHead of Content: Ewan Newbigging-ListerWant your MAD, SAD or BAD dilemmas answered? I knew him as the man I thought had watched my Royal Variety performance in complete confusion. Turns out he actually enjoyed it, so we’re off to a good start! We talk about the things we bury and why they hold so much power, whether we can ever really know someone, and what scares a man who’s made a career out of messing with our minds. Derren also opens up about sexuality, religion and why a meaningful life needs a little sadness. And OF COURSE, it wouldn’t be a Halloween special without a few tricks and treats of our own… anyone for a zombie hunt?See Derren live in Only Human at London’s Apollo Theatre: https://london.derrenbrown.co.uk/ Credits: Producer: Ross Whyatt Assistant Producer: Lydia Brownell Videographers: Harry Sawkins and Lizzie McCarthy Audio Engineer: Miles Wheway Senior Social Media Manager: Laura Coughlan Production Manager: Archan Mohille Production Coordinator: James Cox Head of Content: Ewan Newbigging-Lister

Grace Campbell: My Abortion Guilt Made Me Feel Like a Bad Feminist
43:18|People keep telling me Grace Campbell reminds them of me, which I’m taking as a HUGE compliment! She’s a North London legend, I’m an East London legend, so it was about time we met. I had a feeling we’d have plenty to talk about…Grace has made a career out of saying the things people are too embarrassed to say out loud, so naturally we got straight into it! We talk about unusual childhoods, being a politician’s daughter without the perks, and why sometimes the best thing you can do is turn your phone off and disappear for a bit.She also opens up about her abortion, the guilt of letting go and her experience of being stalked. An honest conversation about shame, relationships and finding your voice, with plenty of laughter along the way.PLUS, we’ve booked a dog psychic! Anita reads both our dogs, and you’ll be shocked by what they have to say.The amazing Grace Campbell, some very outspoken pets and absolutely no chance of a quiet afternoon.
