Jamali Maddix: A Lack Of Hope Has Created Angry Men

Season 3, Ep. 13

When I first met Jamali I wasn’t sure if he liked me or not… so I thought I’d get him on the podcast to find out 🤣

Jamali Maddix is one of the sharpest minds in comedy, saying what we’re all thinking, whether we’re ready to hear it or not. You might’ve seen him on Never Mind The Buzzcocks, QI or 8 Out of 10 Cats, but he’s not just funny… he’s seriously thought-provoking too. From his documentaries like Follow The Leader to appearing on Jimmy Carr’s Am I The A**hole?, Jamali has this way of diving into uncomfortable topics and making them make sense.

We get into EVERYTHING in this one… from generational trauma to anger, grief and why it’s okay to not always have the answers. It’s deep, it’s funny, it’s a bit chaotic… basically exactly how I like it.

We also talk about whether men can actually be trusted in relationships (👀), if animals cry, and why sometimes anger might not be such a bad thing after all.

  • 12. Michelle de Swarte: Childfree And Having A Great F*cking Time

    34:08||Season 3, Ep. 12
    I’ve been SO excited to speak to Michelle since I first watched her brilliant stand-up comedy. She’s funny, honest, a bit chaotic (just like me) and has some of the MADDEST stories 🤣 After a successful modelling career, bossing the catwalks of New York and beyond, Michelle moved back to the UK in her 30s and turned to the world of comedy. She has written and starred in her own BBC sitcom ‘Spent’, appeared alongside Katherine Ryan in The Duchess and is currently on her ‘The Afters’ stand-up tour across the UK. We talk about our shared experience of being raised by a single mum, how Michelle got fired from a burlesque club, and what it’s like to suddenly make (and spend) LOADS of money in your 20s 💸. We also spoke about society’s expectations of women and why she’s chosen not to have kids. You can find tickets for ‘The Afters’ tour HERE!Thanks again to my neighbour Nicky for joining us on this episode! • 11. Ellie Simmonds: My Birth Mum Gave Me Up - But I’m Not Angry

    33:02||Season 3, Ep. 11
    Ellie is one of Britain’s most decorated Paralympians and the youngest person ever to receive an OBE, making history both in and out of the pool. 🏊 You might also have seen her amazing documentaries, like Ellie Simmonds: Finding My Secret Family (A BAFTA winner by the way…), or ice-cold moves on Strictly Come Dancing. She is simply one of the kindest, warmest people I’ve met. After watching her documentary I became completely fascinated by her story and just knew I had to get her on the podcast. In this episode we talk about everything from team pranks and embarrassing moments with Barack Obama, to disability in the care system, online hate, regrets, and the incredible friends and family that keep her grounded. She really is amazing and I can’t wait to see what she does next!—Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube—Credits:Producer: Emilia GillAssistant Producer: Alex ReedVideo: Josh Bennett, Jake Ji and Harry SawkinsSound: Joe Richardson & Rafi Amsili GeovannettiOriginal music: BUTCH PIXYSocial Media: Laura CoughlanExec Producer for JamPot: Ewan Newbigging-ListerExec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger & Will Macdonald
  • 10. Mo Gilligan: I Don’t Want To Take My Life For Granted

    33:51||Season 3, Ep. 10
    I’ve always LOVED Mo Gilligan (even though he’s from South London and I’m from East, who famously don’t get on!). You might know him from his huge stand-up specials, one of his amazing podcasts or from The Masked Singer, and it was such a pleasure having him on my sofa.We talk all about the madness of stand-up and the never-ending search for the funny in everyday life, from working in retail back in the day (like me 🙌) to booking surprise private jets for his friends. Mo was so honest about how much he’s been affected by getting hate messages online, becoming a dad and how he deals with conflict.His outlook on life is so unflappable and so refreshingly positive. BIG UP MO!You can catch him live on his ‘The Mo You Know’ world tour throughout 2026. • 9. Zack Polanski: Reform Want To Protect The 1%

    41:31||Season 3, Ep. 9
    Green party polls and membership are at an all time high, and there is one name at the centre of it all: THE Zack Polanski!! In just six months, he and his team have tripled its membership to nearly 200,000 - and it’s growing rapidly.At a time of climate collapse, abuses of power (recently exposed in the Epstein files) and multiple genocides, he represents something rare…hope.Openly gay, socialist and unapologetically vocal about minority rights, he’s also comfortable admitting when he’s wrong, which feels pretty radical in today's world. I put on my “I <3 Zack” t-shirt to talk about what it really means to make politics accessible, why we shouldn’t vote Reform, and his questionable acting stint in America…If you want to buy the t-shirt and support the greens I’ve attached the link here: https://katharinehamnett.teemill.com/product/i-heart-zack-white-t-shirt/ Find us on: Instagram / TikTok / YouTube#ZACKPOLANSKI #PALOMAFAITH #MADSADBADCredits:Producer: Emilia GillAssistant Producer: Alex ReedAdditional Assistant Producer: Lydia BrownellVideo: Josh Bennett, Jake Ji and Lizzie McCarthy Sound: Rafi Amsili Geovannetti Original music: BUTCH PIXYSocial Media: Laura CoughlanExec Producer for JamPot: Ewan Newbigging-Lister Exec Producers for Idle Industries: Dave Granger &Will Macdonald
  • 8. Olly Alexander: I Was Destroying My Body

    39:59||Season 3, Ep. 8
    This week’s guest is the incredible singer, actor, activist and all round icon Olly Alexander. He’s genuinely one of the most talented people I’ve EVER met…from the huge success of his band Years & Years, to his unforgettable performance in ‘It’s A Sin’, to representing the UK at Eurovision, I’m in complete awe of him!We spoke about the madness of sudden fame, his ‘reformed party girl’ status, and the grief of losing his incredible Gran. We also get into the importance of standing up for your trans friends, especially at a time when anti-trans rhetoric feels louder than ever.It was such an honest, funny and moving chat and he’s welcome back any time (even though I’m still fuming that he has a Madame Tussauds waxwork and I don’t).You can see Olly alongside loads of amazing artists at Trans Mission on 11th March at Wembley Arena! Get tickets here.Thanks again to my new roommate Jonny Woo (@jonnywoouk) for joining us to share his LGBTQ+ partying history lesson. • 7. Philippa Perry: Bad Relationships Made Me Dislike Myself

    33:56||Season 3, Ep. 7
    Whenever I’m at a party, I always gravitate towards Philippa Perry. Not only is she a brilliant author, artist, and psychotherapist, but she is also my favourite person to chat with, and one of the wisest people I’ve ever met.We spoke about our mutual love for gossip (yes - therapists gossip too), the ‘blandification’ of culture, and why she’s no longer scared of dying. My amazing friend Airy (@airysomething) also popped in, and together we psychoanalysed some inanimate objects around my house (brought to life with some giant googly eyes!).You have to read Philippa’s new book, Shrink Solves Murder, which is released on 7th May and available for pre-order now.Oh, and don’t forget: I’m hosting a watch party for the concert film of The Glorification of Sadness & Greatest Hits on 22nd February!
