The Pentecast: Day 6 - Festus Adedoyin

Season 4, Ep. 6

It’s day 6 of our daily Pentecast on LOVECHURCH — The Podcast. Today’s guest is Festus Adedoyin, a member of LOVECHURCH and a lecturer at Bournemouth University, joining Tim Matthews for a powerful reflection on family, forgiveness, and the relentless grace of God.

The story this time is Genesis 27–33, charting the rocky relationship between Jacob and Esau. There’s deceit, manipulation, family drama — basically ancient EastEnders! Jacob steals the blessing meant for Esau, flees, and after years of being tricked himself and living in exile, eventually returns to face his brother. Festus highlights Jacob’s moment of raw honesty when he wrestles with the angel, desperate for transformation. It’s a striking reminder that real growth often starts with admitting our need for God’s help.

Despite the mess, God's promises still unfold — a stunning truth for all of us. And the moment of reconciliation between the brothers is nothing short of beautiful: Esau embraces Jacob, forgives him, and weeps. As Tim reflects, it’s a glimpse of the father heart of God — always ready to welcome us home, no matter how far we’ve wandered. A timely word on grace and the healing power of forgiveness. See you tomorrow for Day 7.

    On the Podcast this week we listen back to last Sunday 18th January with Tim Matthews, as he continues to explore the vision for 2026. He reminded us not to miss opportunities to introduce someone to Jesus, and to be courageous and bold, not timid, in our faith. As 1 Peter 3:15 says, “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” Let’s take that to heart as we live out our faith in everyday life.

  • 57. Unshakeable Living

    33:44||Season 4, Ep. 57
    This week on LOVECHURCH - The Podcast, we are taking ourselves back to the UNSHAKEABLE series. Festus begins by recapping our journey so far through the book of Hebrews, and how all the previous sermons add to a life of unshakeable living. One that is firm, rooted, and not shaken by storms. He further elaborates by suggesting the main anchor for this kind of life is love, something that could be seen as foolish but is ultimately sacrificial.
