It’s day 4 of our daily Pentecast on LOVECHURCH — The Podcast. Today’s guest is Abi Andrews, Youth Pastor at LOVECHURCH, joining host Tim Matthews to explore another foundational moment in Scripture.
They’re diving into Genesis 11, the story of the Tower of Babel — where humanity, speaking a single language, attempted to “make a name” for themselves. Tim and Abi reflect on how the passage speaks to the misuse of power, pride, and unity for self-gain rather than for God's glory. Even though this was written thousands of years ago, the message still lands hard today in a world driven by self-promotion and nationalistic slogans. Abi draws a brilliant connection between the unity we see in the Bible and the kind we’re called to build in the Church today.
Their prayer at the end is a stirring reminder of how vital unity is — not just in LOVECHURCH, but among churches throughout the region and beyond. Unity isn’t about uniformity; it’s about sticking together to see God’s name lifted high. As Abi says, the Church is the body of Christ — and it doesn’t work properly if it’s all severed limbs.
