Slane Residents Slam MCD Offer as Anger Grows Over Disruption and Lack of Consultation Ahead of Upcoming Concerts in Slane Castle - 27/05/2026

Yesterday on The Agenda, we spoke to Meath-based Independent Senator Sharon Keogan, who criticised plans to offer just €30,000 to the Slane community ahead of the upcoming two-day concerts at Slane Castle, saying local residents deserve far more given the scale of disruption involved.

Now, concerns are continuing to grow among residents, with questions being raised around consultation, transparency, road closures, pressure on services and whether the community is receiving a fair return from concerts generating millions of euro through ticket sales, camping and associated activity.

There are also concerns that ordinary residents have little meaningful input into a licensing process that directly impacts their daily lives, despite the significant disruption caused during major concert weekends.

We were joined on The Agenda this morning by local resident Ronan Coleman, who has been speaking on behalf of members of the Slane community.
