Living on the Virg Podcast
Showing Up Matters
In this episode, I talk about something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately: showing up. Showing up for birthdays and hard conversations… for family and friendships… and for yourself. Because showing up is powerful — but if we’re not paying attention, it can slowly turn into over-functioning, resentment, and depletion.
We’ll unpack the difference between showing up and over-functioning, the quiet pain of being “the one,” and how to redirect your energy toward what’s aligned, reciprocated, and peaceful. I’m also sharing three simple questions I ask myself in real time before I say yes — so my showing up stays chosen, not compulsive.

111. Easter Weekend, Family Moments & a Spring Menu Worth Trying
28:17||Ep. 111This week on Living on the Virg, I’m sharing a real-life check-in as I head into a full Easter weekend—family in town, a big celebration ahead, and a week that’s been busy in the best way.I talk a little about what this time of year means to me, especially as I prepare to stand as godmother for my grandson’s sacraments, and why these few days leading into Easter carry more depth than we sometimes realize.I also take you along for:Hosting prep (and how I’ve changed my approach over time)A taco bar plan that won’t break the bankA surprising food reaction that has me rethinking shrimp… againAnd a full breakdown of the spring menu tasting at Europa’s Bolero restaurantFrom what’s worth ordering to what I’d skip, I’m sharing it all—plus a little bit of what I’m watching right now to round things out. This one is a mix of real life, good food, and a full week that feels meaningful in more ways than one.#LivingOnTheVirg #EasterWeekend #HolyWeek #MidlifePodcast #WinosOnTheVirg #FoodieLife #TemeculaWine #SoCalLiving #HostingAtHome #FamilyTime #SpringVibes #LifestylePodcast #RealLifeMoments
110. Why Do I Still Feel Behind… Even When I’m Doing Everything Right?
22:27||Ep. 110This week on Living on the Virg, I’m sharing something I didn’t expect to notice…I had one of the most productive days I’ve had in a long time—hours of focused work, big tasks completed, real progress made. And still… I woke up the next morning feeling behind. Not proud. Not relieved. Just behind. As I prepare for a busy Easter weekend filled with family, church, and hosting, I found myself sitting in the tension between how things look on the outside and how they actually feel on the inside. In this episode, I talk about:Why accomplishment doesn’t always feel like enoughThe pressure of being “the one who can handle it all”The quiet exhaustion that doesn’t always show up as burnoutThe reality of retirement vs. what we imagined it would beAnd the cycle of doing, pushing, resting… and never quite landingThis isn’t about fixing anything. It’s about noticing. And maybe… letting one thing count.#LivingOnTheVirg #MidlifeReflections #RealLifePodcast #FeelingBehind #MentalLoad #Overwhelm #ProductivityMyths #WomenInMidlife #LifeTransitions #EmotionalWellbeing #SelfAwareness #PodcastLife #EmptyNestLife #RetirementReality #MindsetShift
109. This Week on the Virg: Attraction vs Alignment, Real Life Moments & Starting Again
39:54||Ep. 109Some weeks aren’t just one thing — and this is one of those episodes. This week, I’m sharing a mix of what I’ve been watching, where I’ve been, and what’s been on my mind — from the reality show Age of Attraction and how differently it hits in midlife, to a Palm Desert day with friends that felt like a reset.I talk about spending time with my grandson Ezra, a meaningful lunch with my mom, and what I learned about how dementia affects emotional processing — something that really shifted my perspective. We also touch on something important: how to recognize signs of postpartum depression and why checking in on mom matters just as much as checking on the baby.On the lifestyle side, I’m getting honest about my health and wellness rhythm (or lack of it lately), and what changed when I stopped trying to do it alone — hello, social accountability.Plus:Hosting without the stress (simple spring + Easter prep tips)Letting life be full without losing yourself in itAnd this week’s Winos on the Virg at Doffo Winery 🍷Because sometimes the takeaway isn’t about doing more — it’s about doing it differently.#LivingOnTheVirg #PodcastLife #MidlifeReflections #RealLifeConversations #WinosOnTheVirg #TemeculaWineCountry #SocialAccountability #PostpartumAwareness #DementiaAwareness #WomenInMidlife #LifestylePodcast #LifeLately #IntentionalLiving #FridayFeels #PodcastCommunity
108. The Things We Don’t Do (and Why They Follow Us Around)
21:09||Ep. 108There are always those things we keep meaning to do…The email. The appointment. The conversation. The task that would probably take five minutes—but somehow lingers for weeks. In this episode, I’m talking about procrastination in a way that feels a little more honest and a lot more relatable. Not as a productivity problem—but as something deeper.Because the truth is… it’s not just that we don’t do the thing. It’s that the thing doesn’t leave us alone. From tax prep to real-life conversations that get delayed, I started noticing a pattern—one that goes beyond me and shows up in all of us.We talk about:Why avoidance actually expands the thing we’re avoidingThe ripple effect it can have on other peopleWhat’s really happening in your brain when you procrastinateAnd one simple shift that can help you feel lighter immediatelyThis isn’t about fixing everything. It’s about getting it out of your head.If something has been quietly following you around… this one’s for you.#LivingOnTheVirg #Procrastination #MentalLoad #Overthinking #MidlifeConversations #RealLifeTalk #SelfAwareness #GetUnstuck #MindsetShift #LifeReflections #PodcastLife
107. What I’m Watching, What I’m Not… and When Your Body Says Not Yet
34:18||Ep. 107On this Friday-style episode of Living on the Virg, I’m easing into the day with a little bit of everything: real life, what I’m watching, what I’m not, and what’s catching my attention right now.I start with a very real reminder that just because you think you’re back to normal doesn’t mean your body is ready yet. After a productive reset day, a late-night “normal” meal, and a rough night of stomach pain and a migraine-style headache, I found myself sitting with the frustration of having to slow down again. That turned into a bigger reflection on the in-between spaces in life — those moments when you’re not where you were, but not fully where you’re going either. Then we shift into reality on the Virg: I’m talking American Crime Story: Impeachment, the Monica Lewinsky/Bill Clinton story through a much more layered lens, the Netflix JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette docuseries Love Story, Padma’s new food competition series America’s Culinary Cup, Love Is Blind, RHOBH, Southern Hospitality, and a few quick hits on what I’m not watching and what I think is interesting in Housewives news. And for this week’s Winos on the Virg, I’m sharing details on the upcoming Big Red Fest on the De Portola Wine Trail and a few tips if you’ve never done a wine trail event before.A little real life, a little reality, a little wine country — and a reminder that timing matters more than we think.#LivingOnTheVirg #PodcastEpisode #MidlifeReflections #RealityTV #PopCulture #WinosOnTheVirg #TemeculaWineCountry #WomenOver50 #RealLifeReflections #PersonalGrowth
106. Your Brain Is Asking for Resolution, But Life Is Giving You Evolution
23:52||Ep. 106In this episode of Living on the Virg, I’m talking about a thought that came to me while journaling and wouldn’t let go: your brain is asking for resolution, but life is giving you evolution. So many of us want clarity, closure, and tidy answers. We want to know where things are headed, when a relationship will settle, when a decision will feel obvious, or when a season of life will finally feel complete. But the truth is, many of the most meaningful parts of life do not resolve all at once — they evolve slowly over time.In this episode, I reflect on midlife, shifting identity, relationships, routines, financial planning, the passing of time, and the tension between wanting certainty and learning to live inside change. If you’ve been feeling like parts of your life are unfinished, unsettled, or unclear, this conversation may remind you that you are not behind — you may simply be living through a season of evolution. #LivingOnTheVirg #Midlife #PersonalGrowth #SelfReflection #MindsetShift #LifeTransitions #IntentionalLiving #EvolutionNotResolution #MidlifePodcast #WomenInMidlife #Journaling #EmotionalWellness
105. More Outfits With Fewer Clothes
21:26||Ep. 105Do you ever open your closet and feel like it’s full of clothes from different versions of your life?In this episode, I’m talking about what happened after my closet redo and how it accidentally led me into building a capsule wardrobe. What started as cleaning out clothes turned into something bigger: noticing what I actually wear, why some pieces no longer fit my life, and how simplifying my wardrobe has made getting dressed feel easier, calmer, and more intentional.I share the funny story of discovering my “black” joggers were actually navy, how a more intentional shopping trip changed the way I buy clothes, and why so many of us in midlife start craving fewer, better pieces instead of more options. We’ll also talk about:why capsule wardrobes reduce decision fatiguehow style shifts when comfort, fit, and quality matter morewhat it means to let go of clothes tied to old versions of yourselffive simple wardrobe staples that make getting dressed easierThis episode isn’t really just about clothes. It’s about clarity, identity, and creating a calmer life.#CapsuleWardrobe #MidlifeStyle #ClosetOrganization #WardrobeReset #IntentionalLiving #PersonalStyle #SimplifyingLife #ClosetDeclutter #WomenOver50Style #WomenOver60Style #DecisionFatigue #LivingOnTheVirg
104. Reality TV Is Having a Moment + Life Lately on the Virg
36:39||Ep. 104In this episode of Living on the Virg, I’m doing a fun reality TV catch-up and talking through what’s happening across Bravo, TLC, streaming, and the wider reality TV world right now. From the nostalgia wave around older shows to the way social media has changed how we watch and connect with reality stars, there’s a lot to unpack.I share my thoughts on the America’s Next Top Model documentary, the complicated way older reality TV moments look through a modern lens, and why some shows still feel fresh while others feel like they may have lost the magic. I also talk about 90 Day: The Single Life, Survivor, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and the Vanderpump Rules reboot. Then I shift into some real-life updates: a special Disneyland day with my granddaughter, our sweet new baby, our upcoming Caribbean cruise, Easter plans with the family, and this week’s Winos on the Virg featuring GBV Winery on the De Portola wine trail. This one is part reality TV recap, part life lately, and a reminder that as fun as reality TV can be, sometimes the best show is the one happening right in front of us.#LivingOnTheVirg #RealityTV #Bravo #Housewives #RHOBH #VanderpumpRules #90DayFiance #Survivor #RealityTVPodcast #PopCulturePodcast #TemeculaWineCountry #WinosOnTheVirg #DisneylandDay #NanaLife #LifeLately
103. How to Stop “Organizing” Yourself Out of Happiness
25:15||Ep. 103Have you ever noticed that sometimes the more you try to organize your life, the more chaotic it becomes? After retiring, I fell into a full-on productivity spiral—apps, calendars, notebooks, lists… and yes, systems for my systems—yet somehow nothing was actually getting done.In this episode, I share the moment I realized I was practically organizing myself out of my own happiness… and the pivot that changed everything: life wasn’t waiting for me to perfectly organize it before I could start living it.The surprising shift came from something simple I now call intentional sequences—small repeatable rhythms that reduce decision fatigue and quietly bring structure to your days. We’ll talk about why life isn’t a puzzle to solve (it’s a rhythm to live), how routines can actually create freedom, and why the smallest repeated moments often shape the happiest lives.#LivingOnTheVirg #IntentionalLiving #IntentionalSequences #Routines #Habits #DecisionFatigue #Overwhelm #ProductivityCulture #LifeRhythm #SimpleSystems #MindsetShift #Midlife #Journaling #MorningRoutine #MealPlanning #PersonalGrowth #LifestylePodcast #RealLifePodcast
